I'm in Houston right now. My brother picked me up from the airport last night. I've seen most of my extended family so far.
I have also been doing much better than I thought I would. I only cried on friday night and had a small spell this morning. They already cremated Grandpa's body. They refused to give me a final viewing. Oh well, I am happy

Plus, when my (Mam)=grandma died in 2003; I had barely started going to GMU, just started my job at the Patriot Center, knew nobody on campus. I flew overseas the weekend before Thanksgiving for 3 days. I had the stress of midterms on my mind (which i failed horribly). The only people I had were my bar friends.
I remember so clearly because the weather was also raining. My dad called right before I walked out the door to go to class. (Crying and driving is a bad idea!) I walked into class and my teacher said I looked like my puppy had died. It took me about 6 months to get over it. At least now I have many more friends and family members in my life.
European traditions are very different than US traditions. I got to see my Mam during a private viewing. And their crematoriums keep the body for a month before they cremate them. It gives you time to decide on what to do with the body.
