As almost sociologist, I often play the accredited voyeur, watching and simultaneously passing judgment without falling under the same scrutiny myself. I enjoy that distance, and I don’t particularly care for this…journal network, this explosion of communication that extends beyond our apartment walls. But as I’m a part of this particular ( Read more... )

Man, I can't believe the season's changing already. Summer just flew by. Uhh...no bird pun intended.

Am I supposed to be amused?

Uhh...well, I wasn't aiming to be amusing. It was an accident really, worst joke ever, I know. I noticed it after I wrote it. But I suppose if you got a bit of a laugh out of it then its a good thing.

Oh hey, how did your thesis turn out? You were still researching I think, the last time I asked.

Posting drunk requires that you actually get drunk, Neji. You've never struck me as much of a drinker, but if that's changed, you know were to find me. Between Kankurou and I, our liquor cabinet's well stocked.

I think typing has its place. Its legible, which is something not all people can say about their hand writing. And its faster, due to being able to use all your fingers rather than just one hand. As such, it helps a great deal in terms of communicating messages and documents.

Well, I graduated, so I suppose that means it was passable.

And I imagine that even drunk, Temari, I wouldn't be one to post about secret crushes on the internet. I can handle myself better than you think.

I do understand the benefits of typed text, clearly, but I'm just lamenting what's missing from it. Efficient, sure, but not quite as beautiful.

That's awesome, congratulations. Were you satisfied with it?

Hmm, does that mean you're the type inclined to having secret crushes Neji? And I imagine you'd handle yourself imaculately, which is why I invited you to drink with Kankurou and I. We're notorious for our ability to drink anyone under the table and walk away sober.

That's a little poetic, you know. I'd always thought you to be a little too...I dunno, concrete I guess. I am pleasantly surprised.

It's natural and everything, but you should probably check out stuff intended for guys like you, if you know what I mean.

Excuse me? Look, I don't think I'm the one with the voyeurism habit here, definitely not some kind of 'accredited' one. Does that mean you're on one of those government lists?

I just meant that maybe you oughta stop by one of the peepshow places in town. Doing that kinda thing around here could get you arrested.

Its strange, isn't it? How easy it is to fall into destructive patterns. Its easy to ignore someone, to pretend things are ok and good and the more time goes by, the harder it gets to change it. To talk. To connect on some level, with anyone even. I think that we're just all creatures of habit but at the same time, we're pack animals. Its easier for us to go along with accidental isolation than it is to get close to people, so that's what we do, even though what we really crave is that closeness. Its scary too, being close, you need to be open to the bad stuff if you want to be open for the good stuff. A lot of us have way too many scars or still open wounds from doing just that and having it not work, we've developped really strong defense mechanisms and instincts. Protective habits, taken on with good intention, but destructive nonetheless in the long run. Just a different destruction.
