OMG, YOU GUYS. Seriously, y'all are awesome. I post Part One and go to sleep and wake up the next morning to 23 (now 29!) comments? First time I've had that many at once! I floated through work that day!

It might be slightly sadistic of me, but it always tickles my funny bone to get messages informing I've made people late for work, or that they had to try not to laugh because they were supposed to be reading invoices, or some such. I love the way this is written as glimpses, little tiny pieces of a bigger puzzle. And it's AU without being jarring; the characterizations are true-to-form, the dialog is tight, and I adore the whole premise!

Can't wait for the next part! :)

I do love AUs, but the thing I always insist on for them is accurate characterisation (because otherwise, it's original fiction, not an AU!). It's vastly reassuring to know that you (and others) think that I've managed that here. Thank you for reading and reviewing; the next part will be up within a week. =D

SQUEE! I love this! I love that Jack goes to Ianto for advice and that they're equals. I love that they're together by the end of this chapter but I really adored how they were with each other when Ianto was younger, especially when Jack called Ianto after the New Year massacre and when he wanted to sleep in Ianto's bed when he needed comfort. Such a lovely mix of not-quite-paternal and somewhat-big-brotherly and all the anticipation of how they eventually become lovers. Lovely, lovely writing.

The fun thing about writing this part was figuring out how their relationship changes. It started out with Ianto relying on Jack for a lot. Then when Jack started coming to Ianto for comfort, it signalled a kind of shift towards a more equal relationship. And then their close 'familial' bond turned into their being lovers...
