This was delightful. Interesting and different, but the internal logic was very satisfying.

Ah, this is WONDERFUL. I love Sherlock experimenting with trying to get John there, as heartbreaking as that is, and I truly love Sherlock's struggle with his cocaine addiction, and John appearing in the middle of all of those cops! Lestrade will never understand, how WONDERFUL. And, oh, the whole thing. So good.

I LOVE this! And this line

“I was here by myself,” he tells John. “And then you were here.”

I can see why it made John so sad, it's exactly how Sherlock has always been. By himself, and then there was John.
And I love how we get the hint that John had been attacked or something when he begins to tell child!Sherlock that he thinks he's dead but then changes it to dreaming.

Anyway, this is brilliant! Thank you for writing it!
