Wow very informative. It's hard to discuss the economy when there are so many factors I'm not educated about and sometimes mis-educated about. I guess we'll have to see what Congress does and where we will be in next year...

What exactly is a illiquid asset? What's a derivative exactly? My guess is that these are things like puts? repackaged loans? the rights to buy at a certain price? These things are sold on the unregulated secondary market that's built on top of the regulated one where normal people just simply buy and sell stocks?

I'm getting confused.

Is Martin Weiss just trying to scare people with his newsletters? Do you agree with him when he says sell all stock, & run to T bills, gold, and inverse ETFs?

By the way, Sebastian, have you ever thought of starting your own financial newsletter?
