My 20-10 birthday

Nov 02, 2005 11:14

Well, it was my birthday on Halloween, and I finally hit 30. I'm having a hard time understanding why some people I know have flipped out over turning 30. It just felt like any other day to me! It DOES feel surreal when I think about it, since I really don't feel 30 at all. My mom is freaking out a bit because she now has to say she has a 30 year- ( Read more... )

I had no problem with 30 either- I was 30 in June. My mom, on the other hand, freaked out about like yours did. Cracked me up. I rub it in every chance I get. Nah nah.

Knowing all that you have accomplished- AND as a mom, with a child to love and raise and support- makes me proud to call you my friend.

It also makes me look really bad. ;)

I'll have to remember to rub it in whenever I see my mom, too!

Thank you so much for the compliment, though I'd disagree that it makes you look bad! I seriously don't think I'm any different or better than anybody person because I realize the number of years someone spends in school has nothing to do with who they are or their intelligence level. Other things are much more important to me, although I do allow myself to be proud occasionally, too. ;)

And remember that I'm seriously jealous of you! I wish I could cook and create things like you can. I'm a failure when it comes to most things at home, so I feel very inadequate because of it. I don't have nearly enough time or energy to devote to Sophia (or my house!), and most days I wish I could work part-time so I could balance things out better. I guess we just all do our best and hope that it's good enough. :)

You have reason to be proud of you. Don't downplay all that you've accomplished.

I love cooking and being all creative. If I had my way, I would just be a homemaker till my kids were grown. Stay home, make a pretty house, bake, make all my Christmas cards, learn to quilt, read with them, walk with them, etc etc etc... :)

30 isn't so bad. I turned 30 in Feburary.

My parents didn't freak out, since I'm the youngest. My SISTERS did however. We're all in our 30's now. Man.. so when are we supposed to grow up again?

Grow up? Good question! I'm trying to figure out when I'm supposed to finally feel like an adult. Actually, when I think about it, I hope it never happens. Plus, if I never end up acting like a serious, boring adult, then I shouldn't have to go through an embarrassing midlife crisis! ;)

midlife crisis?

is it wrong that I want a motorcycle and a convertable?

Haha nope! But I bet you've always wanted them. That's funny because I want both of those, too. I'm not sure how I'll be able to tell my daughter not to drive a motorcycle if I'm driving one myself. ;)

It would be worse if you got older and then suddenly started wanting things like that to relive your youth. I think you and I are smarter by not ever stopping to want them!
