I just got called to pick up Sophia from school because she's running a fever...of 98.7. The lady didn't seem to understand when I tried to explain that this is a normal temperature, but instead insisted that normal body temperature is 97.3. As of today, all of the snow has finally melted from my lawn, and I'm starting to see buds on all the bushes around the neighborhood. I don't want to see any more snow for a very long time, that's for sure ( Read more... ) -
Back again

On the upswing again
I think my luck is finally starting to change! In a matter of a few days, lots of good things have happened. The contract for the 2-year fellowship from the biotech company was approved, and now I'm just waiting for it to pass through the proper channels at the university here. Japan trip, part 1
My trip to Japan was initiated by my grandparents, who wanted to travel there one last time in their lives. My grandmother is Japanese, and my grandfather met her while he was living there in the late 1940's. They've made many trips in the past, but haven't visited in 10 years. I just returned from a 10 day trip to Japan! To say it was amazing would be an understatement. And I think it might be time to dust off and update this journal, which I hope to do this week since things are pretty slow at work. This is only to say that Battlestar Galactica is back with a new season, and it totally made my weekend. The first two episodes did not disappoint. The best frakkin' show on television! If anyone wants to see a great dramatic series with great writing and acting, amazing character development, and phenomenal music that happens to be sci-fi, rent ( Read more... ) -

I'm finally making the time to update! And I'm happy to see that nobody has defriended me since I've been away. It's been difficult for me to spend any amount of time on the computer since I've moved, but that should probably change in the near future.
So, let's see. I don't want to make this too long, so I'll try to be as brief as possible.

My plans have changed, but things are pretty much on track. Apparently because July is the busiest moving month of the year, and the first weekend of July is probably the busiest moving weekend of the year, moving companies have taken it upon themselves to jack up their prices to the stratosphere.
