They should rename it Rooney's Cut, perhaps?

Come to that, every canal ever built is an in-your-face canal by that definition.

Though my friend Cholmondeley (three-time runner up, Upper-Class Twit of the Year), who is looking anxiously over my shoulder, wants me to ask you why, if someone is going to have the excellent idea of bypassing Liverpool, they don’t bypass it to go somewhere nice like Knightsbridge instead of a beastly hole like Manchester.

Shall I club him kindly on the ear with an improvised cosh for you, or shall I send him over so you can perform the courtesies in person?
