I finally applied to be a substitute teacher. Since they have you fill out a W-4 with the application, I'm fairly certain I've got the job. I get fingerprinted tomorrow

Tutor.com looks really neat-after reading your post, I immediately went there to sign up...and they require Windows XP or Vista with the .NET Framework. And since the keyboard on my Windows laptop doesn't work since I spilled coffee on it a while ago, looks like I won't be tutoring anybody anytime soon.
I may try to sign up at other online tutoring places; there are several. I mostly chose tutor.com because a) it was the first non-advertisement hit on google, b) its simple domain means it's probably the first of its kind that a LOT of people end up finding, and c) there was a NYT review of it, so I know it's legitimate (though the review was about its effectiveness for students, not about how the tutors themselves fare).
