I had my brother take a few pictures of me today, to show off my new desert-ready haircut and the glasses I bought online (for $15 a pair!). They (the pictures) are not very attractive, but that's not his fault - they are of me, after all.

R.I.P. John Wheeler

Burkina Faso! I go to my staging area (TBD) on June 8th, and then on June 11th I fly to Ouahigouya, one of the larger cities in northern Burkina Faso. On August 30th, I will begin my assignment, teaching science in a secondary school. In French.

I've finally been "initially" legally cleared, and there is an invitation packet in the mail right now. I will know where to when I receive it.
Slightly more information here, and since I'm tired of cross-posting, while I will post here what country I'll be in once I know, other than that I will simply keep the two journals separate from this point

I have been medically and dentally cleared by the Peace Corps medical office. This happened *insanely* fast, within a few days of my submitting my forms (the average time is supposed to be six weeks). I chalk it up to my obsessively checking and re-checking my paperwork, and even adding a cover letter detailing exactly which paperwork was submitted ( Read more... )
