[Background] Since birth, Rin was cursed by the spirit of the Horse (of the Zodiac). Initially, contrasting the treatment of most of the other Zodiac children, she grew up with what she thought were doting and caring parents whom loved her very much. However, when Rin asked a very innocent question to them during dinner, "Are you really always this happy? Doesn't anything bad ever happen?”, the illusion of what was the perfect little family broke down. For a couple of years, she had managed to endure the serious physical abuse done to her by her parents, until one day, either on her way to or leaving from school, she collapsed. While being hospitalized, her mother told her while visiting that it was okay for her to not come back anymore, that she didn’t know how she could possibly love her anymore, and to go somewhere where she can’t

Those people that you all call doctors and nurses. Those people that all of you entrust your bodies to. They're liars. All of them are liars. What the heck? That's so weird of me to forget something so important...

[Abilities] Because Rin’s curse has been broken near the end of the series, she can no longer turn into a horse. She has no other extraordinary ability as far as I know of, but it was once said in the manga that if she runs ‘seriously’, no one would be able to catch up with her. Another ability that she has, albeit not a superhuman one, is her ability to draw. She enjoys drawing, and appears to draw very well, but she’s also rather private about it, and refuses to show anyone her sketches.
