❖ MOON CYCLE 58 ❂ 03/15/11 - 03/21/11
Phase: One-fourth waning. A strange sight indeed. The sliver of moon looks like a sly grin in the night sky.

Weather: For most of the week the weather seems rather nice with temperatures rising to the high 60s °F and evenings lowering to high 50s °F. However, the temperatures will drop closer toward the weekend with high winds and rain.

  • Memory Cards Recap. For past information about the cards, refer to this post and this post. As a brief recap, characters have been in possession of two different types of memory cards: Memory Card and World Memory Card. All characters, including new characters, has both of these cards. New characters will find them on or near their person sometime today and tomorrow. Including the new memories that will be described later in this post, here is a brief reminder about the past memories stored in each card as well as a brief description on how they look like.
    • Memory Card. These are character focused. The back is plain, but the front will have some sort of picture or symbol on it. These symbols/pictures will be different for every character, and the symbols actually represent the character in some way. Feel free to use your imagination. The following memories are stored in this card:
      • Original Memory. Any random memory of the character. They can be silly, happy, sad, unpleasant-choice is up to the player. These cannot be played across the network.

      • Vision of Desire. A vision of any desire the character may have. Like the Original Memory, these can range from the silliest of wishes to the lustful NSFW type things. These can be broadcast over the network, but it will be mostly accidental. When a memory is broadcast, it works just like a Dream Post. NOTE: If you do broadcast the vision, please put any high rated content under a cut with warnings. NSFW content is allowed, but if it gets in the R-rated territory, you must also F-Lock it.
    • World Memory Card. The design is unique. On one side, there is a full moon, and on the other there is a black moon. For some reason, the black moon side seems to be shimmering while the other side is rather dull. Characters can guess the implications of that. To see the full details of the memory stored in this card, refer to last moon cycle's post. In short, it's of a mysterious woman killing a young girl.

    • How they work. In short, the character will be compelled to pick up the cards and swipe them through a magical slot that will appear on the side of the Dreamberry (imagine something like a credit card swipe). This will activate the card and an options menu will appear. Characters will be able to choose which memory to play. Those they have not seen yet will appear as "?". Once played, the following symbols appear representing each symbol: "♦" (Original Memory), "♥" (Vision of Desire), "♠" (Twisted Future). All memories can be replayed as often and at any time.

As a final note, the cards cannot be discarded. Misplaced and stolen, yes, but after 24 hours they will find their ways back to their owner. Also, other characters can view another character's memory card should they take possession of it.

  • Memory Card Updated: Twisted Future. The first thing characters may notice is that a dark circle will have appeared on the corner of this card-and it appears to be blinking. Should they investigate, the character will be compelled to pick up the card, swipe it through the Dreamberry, and thereby activating the card.

Immediately, the new memory will play, though like last week, this is not so much of a memory as a vision of the future. With "Twisted Future", characters will find themselves watching a dark future set in their home world. This future could have already come to pass, one based off their fears, or one that could happen due to their own actions or choices they have made or have to make. Had they been granted an offer before? A choice to join one side, but instead went to another? A battle that must be won, but instead was lost? This vision will essentially show the characters the dark possibilities that could have happened-or may still happen. You could consider this similar to a "Bad End," or bad ending for a game.

This vision can be broadcast across the network, and will function similar to a normal Dream Post. As mentioned above, in the options menu, once this memory has been played, the following symbol will be in its place: "♠".

  • World Memory Card Updated. This card has also been updated. Characters will find the symbol of the new moon also blinking. The same feeling of compulsion will occur. Upon swiping, the following will play on the Dreamberry:
The setting was unfamiliar. It looked like a small military base camp located somewhere out in the desert. Soldiers patrolled the area, armed with guns and rifles. Men and women in research labcoats walked to and from the various buildings, some talking on their cellphones, others scribbling furiously on clipboards.

The scene changes to inside what looked to be a small conference room. Both military and research personnel gathered around a table, papers and diagrams strewn over the table.

"We don't have much time. They'll arrive within the next three days, possibly sooner."

"Has the main city been evacuated?"

"Only a few groups left. It should be completed within the next 24 hours."

"Once they're through, we must destroy all of the Dreamgates. It will be a great loss, but we can't risking her getting through."

For a brief moment, the image of a woman with long, black hair appears, a smile curving her lips.

"Is there really no other way?"

A moment of silence before the voice spoke again.

"No, there is not. The Dreamwalkers have been weakened by recent attacks. We can't rely on them to delay the inevitable any longer."

Another person bursts through the doors, exclaiming, "We have finished moved their bodies to the secret base! Everything is set and ready. We've contacted the other bases along the range and are ready for deployment, sir."

A brief flash of large doors closing, surrounded by a mountain range.

"Then begin the countdown. We have 72 hours to pack up everything and head back to Somni-"

Everyone is startled as the ground started to shake beneath them before screams could be heard from outside.

    "What!? No it can't be-"

Outside, soldiers were fighting strange, black shadowy monsters. They broke through the desert ground and materialized out of the shadows. Bodies fell as each side fought. From a nearby garage, a tank burst through the doors, blasting white light at the creatures.

This memory is visible to everyone in Somarium, so it cannot be broadcast over the network.

And that's it for this week. If you have any questions or concerns, just comment here!
