❖ MOON CYCLE 57 ❂ 03/08/11 - 03/14/11
Phase: One-half waning. It may seem strange, but the the crescent shape of the moon may seem like it's tilting at a strange angle on some nights.

Weather: The early morning mist is still around, and the days are rather windy, particularly in the late evenings. Temperatures range from mid-60s °F to lows of low-50s °F.

Effects: Nothing for this week!

Notes: This is pretty detailed for such a minor thing so READ AFTER THE CUT!

  • Memory Card Updated. For those who were around last week, characters had received a special card that would play only one memory. This week, not only do the new characters receive this card, but all these cards now have two memories that can be played.
    • Original Memory. The original memory that was first on the card will remain. Those who have just received their Memory Card will find that the memory can range from silly to serious. These cannot be played across the network.

    • Vision of Desire. This is the new "memory" that has been added to the card. Though "memory" is quite the misnomer. As the label suggest, this is more of a vision of whatever the character desires most. This can range from silly (like a world made of cake) to the lustful (NSFW imagery goes here). Unlike the other memory, these can be accidentally broadcast to the network. Not all of them will, and it is up to the player if this should happen. NOTE: If you do broadcast the vision, please put any high rated content under a cut with warnings. NSFW content is allowed, but if it gets in the R-rated territory, you must also F-Lock it.

You can think of these "visions" like dream posts, even though they are not dreams.
As a refresher, here is how the cards work:
    • Use. The first time a character sees the card, they will have this inexplicable urge to pick it up and will already start recalling some parts of whatever memory that card represents. Just like the other cards that can be found in Somarium, the Memory Card needs to be swiped into the Dreamberry before it can be "activated". However, instead of being "forced" to swipe it like normal cards, characters have the option on whether or not to swipe the card-even for the first time. That is to say, it is possible for a character to never swipe and activate the card. NOTE: Only the original memory will play automatically.

    • Upon activation. Should a character swipe the card, there are no physical and mental changes. Instead, the memory itself plays on the Dreamberry just like any other normal video. These are not broadcast and only play to the owner. The memory will feel very real to the character, almost as if they were re-experiencing whatever the memory is.

    • Multiple use. A character can "replay" the memory as often as they want. Think of the card as an old home movie video.

    • Option menu. With the addition of the Vision of Desire, after the first use, characters will see a new menu appear on their Dreamberry screen. There will be a large square with a "?" on it. Once chosen, the Vision of Desire will be unlocked and will play. The "?" will change into a "♥" and either of the two memories can be played at will.

    • Cannot be discarded. No matter what the character does to it-throw it away, cut it to pieces, burn it-the card will somehow for no apparent reason find its way back.
So in essence, there are two "memories" stored in the Memory Card, and once a character has seen the original memory, they have the option to view the second one. Please remember the rules if you choose to have the Vision of Desire broadcast across the network.

  • World Memory Card. In addition to the Memory Card update, characters will find a second card lying either on top or underneath the Memory Card. The design is unique. On one side, there is a full moon, and on the other there is a black moon. For some reason, the black moon side seems to be shimmering while the other side is rather dull. Characters can guess the implications of that.

This card works essentially the same as the Memory Card, but with a significant difference. Like the Memory Card, characters will have this compelling urge to swipe the card, black moon side up. But instead of seeing their own memories, they're seeing a completely different vision:
A young girl is wandering through the halls of what looks to be a high class, luxuriously decorated building. She is holding a stuffed rabbit plushie.

Behind her, a shadow flickers and moves. At first the shadow has no shape. Just a dark, black shadow gliding across the floor. But as it drew nearer, the girl still blissfully unaware, the shadow started to change form. A head appeared, then the shoulders, the torso, the hips, the legs-a woman with long black hair. Her pale face is obscured by the shadows, but her blood red lips were curved to a cold smile.

    "Precious."

The girl gasped as she turned around, her eyes wide. Before she could even scream, the woman raised her hand and a long, black nail extended from her index finger to pierce through the girl's forehead. What trickled out was not blood, but waves of energy. It came in all sorts of colors, though most were predominantly light blue, and the waves streamed toward the center of the woman's forehead. The girl's mouth opened as if to scream, but nothing came out. She clawed at her neck, as if trying to gasp for air. The shadows around the woman flew up and wrapped themselves around the girl. It burned her, but she could not move.

Soon the girl had been completely drained, yet seemed to still be alive. The woman raised her up, smiling.

"Sweet dreams," she whispered before streams of black poured through the nail and into the girl's writhing body. Again the girl could do nothing-only relive her darkest nightmares.

The vision blacks out for a moment, and the next scene is of the girl-now translucent-lying on the ground in front of what looked to be an empty throne. Translucent ooze pooled around her. Other figures were standing around her-also translucent. And soon other figures started to appear.

    The ones from different worlds.

Does this vision sound familiar? Some may recall this event before, while others may have no idea what this is in reference to. Well wonder no more. Back around Halloween of 2009 (yes, that long ago!) we had a bit of a Murder Mystery (see here and here for event references). Some characters may recognize Precious, the girl who had been murdered, and remember the event. It was never solved. Could that be why this memory is embedded in this card?

Characters who remember the past event may notice that there are lot more different details in this memory that was not around for the actual event. The mysterious woman may also look familiar to other characters who have been here for a while. What could all of this mean?

It certainly gives more questions than answers, and characters are free to speculate what it could mean.
    • Documents. As if to help, once this vision has been played, the Dreamberry will automatically redirect the user to the Documents tab. There, characters can read up on all the past information. What's stranger is there is also a message that says "Downloading new data...", but it seems to be taking a while. Whatever information it's downloading, it must be huge.

And that's it for this week. If you have any questions or concerns, just comment here!
