[he was just landing near the fountain (ah, it was still so beautifully symmetrical!) when he heard her. though technically he had already noticed her signature pigtails during this descent.

as he hopped off his board, Beelzebub disappearing into his hand, he gave her a nod.]

Maka. It looks like our timing was perfect. [which pleases him greatly. but it was also nice to finally see Maka again in person.]

It's fine, so long as you at least know what you'll eventually experience.

But as for this world...there's still a lot we don't know about. Has anyone informed you, yet?

All I know is that it's a dream world called Somarium, that a lot of crazy things happen, and that people can be here for a long time. Is there more to it?

That's the basic gist of it. People can also see your dreams through the Dreamberry.

Oh, yeah, someone did tell me that. I guess that falls under the "crazy things category."

What've you been doing here, all this time?

Other than investigating what I could about this world, I've joined the police force. Within the first few weeks I was already thrown into a murder case, but that's all been solved now.

[he still doesn't look too happy about it since apparently said murderer is still out and about.]

The police force? [Maka reflects on this briefly, thinking immediately that it'd be something that she could do to keep herself busy, and to... well, help out. If she was going to be here for a while, she had to do something. But, then she thought of Soul... she and Kid were the only ones here from back home. It'd be much harder to fight without her Weapon. And, this technically wasn't DWMA business, anyway.

But...]

Are there a lot of murders around here, usually?

Not usually, fortunately. Which is also a bit of a relief given how many different people are gathered in this world.

You should join. It would give you something to do, and I know you would be a valuable asset. [as if reading her mind. only not really since he had proposed it to her before the last time she was here.]

[That is fortunate. As Kid had said, you would expect there to be more trouble than there seemed to be in Somarium with so many people.]

You think? Hmm... well, I might as well, if I'll be here for a while.

[The "valuable asset" makes her smile.] Okay, then! I'll see what I can do.

Wonderful. I can take you there once you settled.

[and kind of "hopping" off the edge he had been leaning against, dusting himself as he turned to her.] Would you like a quick tour? The setup is actually quite simple.

Sure, that'd be great!

[She entwines her arms behind her back. After the initial confusion, she's comforted by the fact that Kid is here, and... well, that everything back home ended (will end?) up alright.]

Ready when you are!

[a smile.]

Very well. [and they're walking.]

Right now we're in the village called Espoir. Surrounding is the city of Somni, which has five districts. Going counter clockwise, they are the Residential, Shopping, Business and Arts, Industrial, and Government. Outside of that is the desert. No one really knows what's beyond the desert and it's filled with monsters. However, there's a barrier that apparently protects outside intruders from invading Somarium. Most of the time, at least.

[glances at her.] In a way it's almost similar to Death City.

[Maka nods, twintails bouncing as she does. Village, city, desert, barrier. Not too terribly complicated.] I heard there was a school here, too, somewhere.

[Something occurs to her.] Is there someone in charge of this place, or does the police force take care of most things?

There are a number of them, actually, and I'm acquainted with one of the headmistresses. A Lady Serenity of Rose Academy. Currently classes are out for the summer, but you could still look into some summer courses.

As for who is in charge...[his brows furrow a bit.] I can't really give you a straight answer. Before I arrived, there was apparently someone called the Overlord here. Yet no one knows if she was actually "in charge" or just some kind of supervisor. She disappeared before my arrival. Otherwise, there's really no one else.

Yeah, I think I'll look into it.

[She frowns at the latter bit of information. The Overlord bit does make her think of Lord Death, but it seemed that not much information was available about her. Well, what could you really expect from a dream world?]

Hmm. I wonder if she's still around somewhere?

I haven't seen her here, if she is. Nor do I feel anything unusual-though that's not really anything to go by. [it's questionable if she even has a soul or if she could hide it.]
