[he was just landing near the fountain (ah, it was still so beautifully symmetrical!) when he heard her. though technically he had already noticed her signature pigtails during this descent.
as he hopped off his board, Beelzebub disappearing into his hand, he gave her a nod.]
Maka. It looks like our timing was perfect. [which pleases him greatly. but it was also nice to finally see Maka again in person.]
[Maka nods. Surely someone like that would have a powerful soul that they'd be able to sense... provided she hadn't hidden it, of course. Speaking of soul protect--]
Have you seen any witches around here?
[You can bet she's thinking of Medusa, and might also be able to see it in her expression.]
As you'll find with everyone else here, they are unfamiliar with the importance of the soul, or anything about the Kishin or black blood.
While the witches and wizards currently in this world perform magic like back home, most are not evil. Of course there may be some who are-[and he's keeping an eye on a certain one at the moment]-but you'll find them more as a friend than foe.
[This is a little surprising, but not necessarily bad. All the better if they didn't have to chase down soul-stealing bandits every other day... then, she could put her efforts into learning more about this place.]
This really is a whole different world...
[And with an almost tired smile:] Good thing you're here, Kid. I think I'd be much worse off here without someone from home.
[If she hadn't heard that things were relatively stable back where she came from... well. She'd be a worry machine.]
["relatively stable" were the key words, though Kid just smiled in return.]
I think you would have been just fine, Maka. You're one of the strongest people I know. But having a friend does help.
[speaking of help-] That reminds me. If you're wondering what to do about a weapon, there's a coliseum on the floating mountain that can create customizable weapons-even those that could utilize our soul wavelengths. I'm still waiting for mine to be finished so I'm not sure how effective these are, but if you're interested, I could take you there.
[She certainly appreciates that compliment.] Heh. Thanks.
[And that was the next thing on her agenda! Maka lights up at the mention, because even though she's less than happy about Soul's absence, she knows that it'll be necessary to find a weapon to use in the meantime.]
That'd be great! I think it'd definitely come in handy, especially if I'm going to see if I can help out with the police...
[And because she's not going to let up on practicing.]
Then that will be one of our stops for today. There's also the matter of housing... [thinking of the few apartments that he recalled looking through when he was finding his own as he walked.]
[Housing. Right. She hadn't gotten to thinking about that yet, mostly because she hadn't a clue where everyone lived in this dream world. She assumed that they just lived in various places around Espoir and Somni... but, she didn't no much beyond that.]
[She shakes her head.] Not really. Is there a place you'd recommend?
I'm current living in a an apartment complex over at the Business district. It's actually rather nice, so I would recommend it. There are a few other nice apartments scattered around, though it may be best if we at least lived near each other to make contact easier.

...Yes. But they're not the kind we're used to.

There's nothing specific. I guess we'll just go wherever you think is important!
