Kid was doing his usual rounds-straightening signs, dusting things off, basically setting everything back into order-when he suddenly felt the sudden appearance of a new soul in town. This wasn't exactly common since he was hardly ever within the same vicinity of a new arrival, so it still surprised him whenever it did happen.

So he turned around and saw the girl that was certainly not there only a few minutes prior (more like an hour-that was how long he had been where he currently was). After watching her slowly gain her senses, Kid waited a few more minutes before finally speaking up.

"In case you're wondering, you are not dreaming. At least, not in the usual sense of the term." Not really knowing whether this really was a dream they were trapped in or if they were in a completely different world still bothered him, but he had to make do with what he had.

"We start with a maze," Ariadne began, slipping into a mindset she knew well. It was that single-minded way she thought of building: imagining not just details, but the entire dream's layout at first, and slowly moving into the bigger picture, including even the paradoxes that Arthur had taught her.

"We know what we need from the target, and we know how to get it, for the most part. Then I just build from there."

"The target?"

"Yeah. Whmever's dream we're supposed to be going into."

"So you enter someone's else's dreams and build inside it?"

...Okay, what? "I'm afraid you'll have to better explain."

She chuckled to herself quietly, trying to think of how Arthur and Cobb explained it to her the first time.

"I design it first, based on the goal of the mission. Then I teach it to the dreamer themselves, and we go in."

"So the dreamer is aware that this is going on. This is all really hard to believe...but I assume this is also what you meant by the 'kick' earlier."

"It's hard to take at first, I know; it makes more sense if you actually get to test it out on your own time," she confirmed. "But yes, this is what the kick is for."

Kid mulls over the whole concept for a moment.

"How do you enter the person's dream?"

"We use a device known as the PASIV in order to sedate ourselves and share the dream. Because we're all hooked up to the same PASIV, we all go to the same place." She paused then, thoughtfully.

"Like here."

"I see...so you use some sort of device...interesting." It was definitely something to wonder about, particularly their given circumstances.

"And you do this often? Are there any side effects?"

"Not really. If you build too many details to resemble reality, the line starts to blur a bit, but that's the only thing I can think of."

And possibly the fact that you got addicted to it after a while, unable to dream unless you were sedated. But she hadn't done it that much yet.

"So this procedure is relatively safe?"

He was still rather skeptical about it. After all, dreaming involved the person's mentality and psyche.

"If it weren't, we wouldn't do it."

Needless to say, the fact that it wasn't exactly legal wasn't brought up, and therefore? Was not addressed.

"I see...thank you for telling me this. Is this procedure common in your world?" he asked out of mere curiosity. It seemed like an established technique, and he had no idea if it was commonly practiced or not.

"I'd never heard of it before I met Cobb. I think it's a pretty underground technique," she replied lightly. Ariadne had been able to avoid the topic of her line of work with her classmates before inception, and she would certainly be able to do so afterwards.
