Hey guys, we have some important Game Updates that you need to know about, as well as some heads up information on what's happening during this spooky month of October!
❖ the past changes
This is long overdue, but better late than never. Everyone knows the whole world has been pretty much been renovated so it looks almost brand spanking new, but that are some key features we'd like to tell everyone:
- The lake: Most significant change would be the inclusion of the lake over by the Residential district (first). It's called Lake Meridian and it has it's own tag: !location: lake meridian. Anyone is free to explore it. We'd just like to remind people that while it actually extends past the barrier and out into the desert, you cannot go past the barrier and monsters cannot come in. There is however one creature in the lake that can go on either side of the lake without any problems, and that would be the shy, gentle, but can be fierce lake monster Nessie. And no, you can't ride on it to try and go through the barrier, you'll just be knocked back.
- Streetcars/Subway System: It was mentioned as a small note in one of the earlier smaller mod notices, but there is a functioning streetcar and subway system. Feel free to use them.
It should be noted that one could walk through the subway tunnels without any fear of being run over as there are maintenance sidewalks on either side of the tracks. Stick to those. ...Otherwise you might get run over and that won't be pretty.
The list of Subway stops can be found here. - There are a lot of other place additions, and the Places Directory has been updated to reflect these additions. Some already established places have also been updated to reflect their current conditions.
- The Industrial District (fourth) was once known as being pretty much devastated. It has also been renovated, but it still looks like the slums.
- Several other official pages have been transferred from the Wiki to the main mod community (castleofdoom) and the transferal is now complete. There are a lot of pages that were updated, and it's highly advised you look over them as they will not only help clarify a few things, but also give a heads up of what could be coming ahead. People who stopped watching the community or left it are free to re-watch/join it now.
- We'd like to give a heads up on a new way to Canon Update your characters. Well, it's more like a replacement for the original "re-apply" process. Instead of having to drop your character and re-apply for a canon update, we now have a Holding Period system instead. It works the same way, only you don't have to wait for the app cycle and you don't have to drop your character. They will just be inactive for a week and will "disappear" from the game. For more information, look here.
❖ for the month of october
Starting Monday, October 5, the residents of Somarium will notice that their world has been completely changed. Well, more like just redecorated.
In the spirit of Halloween and the passing of Autumn, both the village and the city have changed to look a lot like some variation of Halloween Town. Most similar to the one from A Nightmare Before Christmas no it was not chosen because it had "Nightmare" in the title, no of course not only without the awesome, giant hill. The exterior of the buildings will have the altered looks, though the interior will remain normal.
All around the streets one will find Jack-O-Lanterns lighting up the way, and a few more scarecrows than usual. These extras actually walk along freely while the normal resident scarecrows just stick to their spots. They will be a bit more active though. And somewhat a bit more creepy. How can you tell the new scarecrows from the other ones? They have no faces.
The number of crows will also have increased considerably, and bats will be seen flying in the sky late at night. Also, the castle will look a lot creepier and haunted looking. More so than it usually does. Is it also a little lower than usual...?
Anything else that you could possibly think of that would help decorate the place will be assumed to be included. We would just like to make note that there are no "cartoony" decorations. Everything is placed as if with a purpose and as if it were the most normal thing in the world. It will still seem odd and possibly unsettling, but that's just how it goes.
This setting change will last for the whole month of October and will revert back to its normal setting on November 1.
There will be an obvious signal post as an official reminder.
❖ haunted carnival
The Haunted Carnival is back in town, but will it stay this time? From now until Friday, October 16, there will be several blocks that will be inaccessible in the Industrial District (4th). The whole are will in fact be foggy and anyone who goes through it will find themselves wandering around for a few minutes before emerging on the exact opposite side they came through. If you try to come in from above, you'll find yourself in the sewers (have fun with that). Try to sneak in from below and you'll find yourself on a random rooftop. Bizarre isn't it?
But on the following Saturday, October 17, there will be a very annoying broadcast announcing the arrival and re-opening of the Carnival. Everyone will have complete and public access, and everything will function. Even if there is actually no one actually operating the machinery. Visitors may see shadows or hear sounds of people who were definitely not there before, but otherwise it's completely empty.
As stated before, the rides will function normally. However, that does not mean they won't malfunction at some point or another. All the traditional rides and booths will be found there.
There will be an in-game signal post to remind people, but this is basically all you need to know about the carnival. If there are any changes, will be sure to make a post before it actually becomes available.
❖ halloween event
THERE WILL BE ONE! But we're not going to go into detail in this post since there's already a lot of things going on to make your head spin. We will give out the details around mid-October. We can say that the event will happen during the last week of October, 10/25 - 10/31. And it will be fun :D
