Anthrocon 2008
I went to Anthrocon yesterday. I got started about 7:30, arrived at Pittsburgh about 11:30, and got registered by noon. I managed to park in the convention center's parking garage, where I saw my first furry :)

Well, crap! Part 2
I had a tree service come out to clean up the mess the utility tree hackers left behind, and look at the tree. It turns out the tree was infested with carpenter ants, and this was what weakened the branch enough to break off in the storm. A second branch cracked at the base and is in danger of falling off. Well, crap!
When I came home from work, I found out that one of the major branches of the big tree in the back yard had broken off, due to a storm that passed through in the afternoon. In doing so, it landed on the power lines and took out power for several houses in the neighborhood. Power was out from about 4:30PM until almost 3AM. I'm going to have an ( Read more... ) -
The acoustical properties of polyvinylchloride are vastly underappreciated
Just got back from a Blue Man Group "How To Be a Megastar 2.0" concert. It was great! The combination of the energetic rock music and the antics of the Blue Men worked out well (for me, anyway). So I married the scope
Had a colonoscopy on the 18th. Not my idea of a fun activity:( The results were one polyp (benign) and a few diverticula (minor), so I guess the guts are ok, if not great. It Was Fair
I went to the Darke County Fair yesterday. I hadn't gone in several years and this was the 150th year of the fair, so I went. It was alright I guess, but it didn't seem like they did anything special for the 150 anniversary. Monday, I checked out of the motel room at 8, stopped at a McDonald's for a Egg McMuffin and OJ, and got underway. Ahh Done Gone to Otakon - Day 3
My plans for Sunday were to visit the Science Center and then try to drop by Icarus' table again. I got to the Science Center a bit before 11, since I wanted to see their Segway demo which started at 11. It was there that I found out for $7, you could rent a Segway for 10 minutes.
