It looks like he has pretty strong backing from the Democratic party. He's an veteran of the war in Iraq, which I think will allow him some immunity in criticizing the war.

Standing by his ideals is what got Jesse Ventura into the Minnesota governor's office. Of course, his willingness to say exactly what is on his mind earned him a few enemies and got him out of office 4 years later.
