what kind of tobacco are you rolling? i always found bali shag to be the easiest to roll, so i recommend it for new rollers. but i like american spirit a little better, though their papers are kinda hard to manipulate. zig zag papers are my favorites. also, just to complicate the rolling process even more, they make little filters that you can use on hand-rolled cigs. they come in 2 sizes (that i've seen) - the big ones kind of force you to roll cigars. the skinny ones are my preferred variety, since they allow you to roll a more managably-sized cig.

clearly i have way too much to say about such an insignificant activity, but please, forward all questions my way. i know way too much about rolling.

i've actually been using bali shag - they're papers are a little small, but they do the trick. i've also purchased Ray's. you have to try them, they're the ones with the little wire that runs through the paper.

nyc totally just raised the tobacco tax again, this time effecting loose tobacco. my previously-priced $4 bali shag just went up to $8. now i can no longer use the excuse that it's cheaper to roll my own. because it's not really. now my excuse is that i look like a badass. also, rolling your own cigarettes deters moochers. also bali shag just tastes far superior to any other loose tobacco (or pre-rolled cigarette) that i've ever tried.

yes. yes. and extra yes on that last statement. every time i go to a bar, i get (esp. due to living in nashville...with rednecks) interrogated by some random mostly drunk guy about rolling joints.
