Holiday harshness

So as I sit here, looking for gifts for my family online, i'm just getting more and more frustrated. I cant help it. The christmas season has passed by the Zalios household for yet another year. Why? Because we're all growing up...and it sucks. We havent put a tree up yet, and christmas is like, 10 days away. Sophia isn't even going to be ( Read more... )

:-)

Eh, I actually get it. Four years ago, we stopped getting a tree because I was so busy working double shifts that Christmas season that I was too busy (and swamped with personal stuff too) to go. My Mother stopped going to get the tree years before that because of laziness and her back. At first, she was pissy, and I actually went out Christmas Eve 2002 expecting to be able to get a tree for cheap to shut her up. No such luck. :-( She then got used to the prospect of not having to put away all the decorations, and we stopped getting trees altogether.

For some reason, I really really wanted a tree this year more than years past, however, she disagreed. I also haven't gotten up the energy to do it myself, so I'm to blame.

I, however, see being single at the holidays as a reason to spend the $200 I would have spent on someone else on me! WOOT I also see it as a reason to get extra tanked on New Year's! :-)

Not to mention that you miss your favorite cousin, right? Man, I just want to hang out, drink some beer, and whoop your ass at Trivial Pursuit. Instead, I get to drive halfway across the state, spend Christmas Eve with people who aren't even my in-laws yet (and in-laws of the in-laws, if that makes sense), then drive to another state to go to CHURCH (what?) then eventually to the cape, toting all my own presents because mom didn't shop for us this year. Grr. Being a kid was so much more fun. I miss you cuz.

Did you get my text message on thanksgiving? How holidays arent the same without you, your brother, your folks...everything? Don't you hate growing up and all the bullshit that has come with it? (sigh)

I miss you alot. I miss your bro and your folks alot. Please tell them all I love them dearly, and that they have a merry christmas.

And at somepoint, we're gonna play Trivial Pursuit, and I will ruin you. Give my best to Jimmy, looking forward to the wedding! (Remember Sophia's? Jesus.)

Question: what's your street #? I have a xmas card to mail and keep forgetting to ask my mom. I'm a loser, I know :)

And you're going down in trivial pursuit.
