JaeJoong was waking up because he heard voices around him but he refused to open his eyes. He felt YunHo’sarms around him and heard the reassuring sound of his soft breathing. The conversations in the room fell silent and for a moment, JaeJoong though that he was alone with YunHo again. “Is he awake?” Asked JunSu silently at YunHo, breaking the silence in the room. “Yes, but he is still dull from the sleep” answered YunHo and kissed JaeJoong lovingly on his forehead. JaeJoong tried to ignore all the talking around him and to sleep further, but it was useless, he could not sleep again now he knew that people where looking at him. JaeJoong opened his eyes, assuming that only YunHo and JunSu were with him and looked tired around him. But he did not like what he saw, he was not lying in his own bedroom but in the living room, in YunHo’s arms and he was not alone with YunHo and JunSu… A man was standing next the open window. The man smiled friendly at him and JaeJoong could see his fangs clearly… The man was a vampire! JaeJoong let out a shocked cry and tried to flee. “Don’t worry, you are safe here!” cried YunHo soothingly and pulled JaeJoong closer against his chest.
JaeJoong took a deep breath and looked at YooChun. He realized that YooChun did not look like the monsters who he had see outside. And if JaeJoong had not seen his fangs then he had not known that he was a vampire, he had thought that he was just a extremely handsome man, but nothing else. JaeJoong doubted it when he watched YooChun, but he was wondering if YooChun could read his thoughts just like YunHo. “Yes, he might if he wants, but he would not do it because you are my mate” YunHo grabbed JaeJoong’s hand and gave him a reassuring squeeze in his hand. ”Is he dangerous? Just like the vampires outside? And why am I here, in the living room while I’m sleeping?” Thought JaeJoong, assuming that YunHo could hear him. He did not want to speak out loud, not sure how YooChun would react and not sure if he smelled the same for YooChun as he smelled for the vampires outside, who had tried to kill him. YunHo stood up without answering JaeJoong’s question and helped him on his feet. “Come, let’s make a walk around the house. And don’t worry about dangers, there are no vampires outside who could attack us now. YunHo grabbed JaeJoong’s hand again and dragged him out of the house, not paying any attention to JaeJoong’s protests.
JaeJoong felt himself become stuffy when YunHo was taking him outside and into the fresh air. He did not want to go outside, he has not forgotten what had happened with him the last time he was outside, though he had not much choice. YunHo grabbed JaeJoong’s hand and walked through the garden, enjoying the fresh night air. “Thank you that you have given me a chance, I will not disappoint you!” YunHo smiled at him and suppressed the urge to pull JaeJoong close to him. JaeJoong said nothing to YunHo and stared at the ground, not knowing what he must say to him. “Jae… The vampire who you have seen inside the house is my brother Park YooChun, we have grown up together… You don’t need to be afraid of him, he has himself well under control. As long as he doesn’t breathe through his nose he cannot smell you and he would not harm you. And even if he would smell you, then JunSu is still in there in order to reassure him. JunSu is YooChun’s mate and he is able to sooth him, how difficult the situation may be.” YunHo tried to reassure JaeJoong, YooChun and JunSu were his family and they belonged to him. He did not want that JaeJoong was afraid of his friends and the only family he had.
JaeJoong did not know what to say, the idea to trust a vampire who could kill him if he wanted, and without knowing anything about his past, who he was and what he was able to. He did not like the idea to trust YooChun, even if YunHo knew him and even loved him as a brother. “I understand why you’re hesitating and I can wait till you’re ready” he answered JaeJoong’s worrying thoughts. He gave a reassuring squeeze in JaeJoong’s hand before he started walking again. “What would happen now? I have my own work, my house and what can I say to my friends and my neighbors? Can I come back to my home or…” JaeJoong did not want to think about everything he would leave behind if he would come with YunHo, he had worked really hard to accomplish everything he owned. YunHo stopped suddenly with his walk and looked intently at JaeJoong. “It is not a good idea to go home now or to make plans for what we should do later. My brothers can smell your scent on every location where you mostly have been. They would search for you and watch those places. I know what I’m talking about, I have seen it before with the mates from my other brothers and sisters. They would not stop till they have you, or till your smell has disappeared. Till then they would hunt you down, and only the smell from another human, like you who has found his mated vampire can distract them. I can’t make a promise to you when you can go home, not till I’m sure that you are safe.

JaeJoong sat next to the window and stared outside. He had pulled the sail slightly up and attached to a piece of adhesive tape. It was still dark outside and it was now safe for the vampires to remove the sails. He sometimes saw a lonely vampire walking in the garden, and every vampire stared hungrily at him, but they were not trying to come closer to the house, knowing that they could not enter and they all left. The whole time JaeJoong refused to show the vampires his fear and looked at every vampire with a blank expression, trying to look uninterested in them. YunHo had asked him a few times why he sat by the window and making it difficult for himself. He wanted to know why JaeJoong wanted to watch every vampire in the garden and asked him a few times if he wanted to come sit with him. JaeJoong did not answer YunHo’s questions and stared stubborn through the window. He had accepted that YunHo was a vampire and he knew now that he belonged to him, he was also not so scared anymore. But that did not mean that he agreed with what was happening with him, there was still so much he did not understand and he wanted to know what he could suspect from YunHo. He knew YunHo’s name and he felt safe when he was with him, even though he knew that YunHo was a vampire… But he did not know much more than that. He wanted to know who YunHo really was. The reason why he looked through the window was simple, he wanted to distract himself.
JaeJoong was also still not sure if he could trust JunSu because he knew that JunSu was loyal to YooChun, a vampire…JunSu came every now and then to him, trying to make a small talk with him but JaeJoong ignored JunSu just like YunHo. JaeJoong was not sure how to react in YunHo’s presence and that was making him unsure. Never before had he had a serious relationship before and every relation he had never lasted longer than three or four weeks! Before he had met YunHo he had decided that he would not start a new relationship with someone, he was simply not ready for it. He was simply not ready for it then and he was not sure if he was now. And now he had met YunHo, who was making his head dizzy with only his presence! YunHo had said honestly that he was not leaving him, never… And that was JaeJoong’s point, he did not know if he could handle this. He wanted to be free, he wanted to do the things he always had done! He wanted to undertake things, going on vacation to a warm land, with friends… He had so many things he wanted to do, things he could no longer do now he was with YunHo. He could not go with YunHo to a hot country on vacation, enjoying the sun, sit still with a cocktail in his hands... He must change all his plans, everything he had planned to do… Only because he was with YunHo, as if he was YunHo’s property! Of course he knew that YunHo was not considering him as his property, but it did the same thing, he could not go away from YunHo if he wanted, he had no choice. The choice if he wanted to live alone, without YunHo was already made for him!
At dawn YooChun walked cautiously up to him, he did not want to scare JaeJoong and coughed to let JaeJoong know that he was coming to him. JaeJoong moved immediately away from YooChun and fled to the other corner of the room. JaeJoong knew that YunHo trusted YooChun, but he was still not sure about it and didn’t trust him yet. YooChun pulled the sail free and covered the window with it. Immediately the room was plunged into darkness... JaeJoong started to feel unsure now he could not see YooChun anymore. The whole room was dark and he was not sure where YooChun now was. Only when JunSu turned on the light in the living room JaeJoong relaxed a bit, he saw that YooChun was gone! YooChun stood in the farthest corner from the living room with his eyes closed, as if he concentrated on something. Worried JaeJoong wondered if YooChun had breathed thought his nose and had smelled his cent. Only when YooChun was sitting down with JunSu on his lap he relaxed visibly. He sniffed with his nose in JunSu’s neck and breathed JunSu’s smell to distract himself. When JaeJoong saw this he knew that the danger was over and he wondered what he must do now. He had nothing in this house that was his, he had no book to read and even the kitchen was sparsely furnished, he had nothing to do during the long hours he sat still here in this house.
JaeJoong decided to go to bed, he had nothing to do now it was dark inside the house and he could no longer look through the window. Sleeping was not difficult now, it was always dark inside the house. And besides that, he had nothing better to do during the day now he was weak in the sunlight. He did not know where YunHo was, he had not see him and he was definitely not home, not that he was worried about YunHo… It did not matter to him… JaeJoong opened every room and looked inside, checking if he was really alone and to see if YunHo had returned home. When he didn’t find YunHo he locked himself, a little disappointed, up in his room. He knew that it was useless to lock the door, he sat in a house full of vampires and if they wanted they could break the door open, but he tried to not think about it… When JaeJoong lay in his bed he realized that he secretly missed YunHo, though he would never admit it to anyone, never! Thinking about YunHo he fell asleep…
…”JaeJoong?” A warm fingertip was stroking his cheek and JaeJoong pressed sleepy his face something closer to the warm hand. “JaeJoong, wake up…” This time JaeJoong recognized YunHo’s voice and realized that what he did. With a jerk he pulled his head back, away from YunHo’s hand. Ashamed he sat upright in his bed and pulled his blankets higher, trying to cover his now red face. “What is it?” JaeJoong picked nervously at his blanket and did not dare it to look at YunHo, he still felt ashamed for his previous affectionate response. JaeJoong looked up when he heard how YunHo grinned and saw that he looked at him smiling broadly. “What? Why are you laughing?” JaeJoong snarled frustrated. “You're cute when you blush” smiled YunHo and lay beneath the covers and on his lap before he could protest or indignation could respond. “Do you want to go with me? I’m taking you to the mall, it is still not so late and the shops are still open.” YunHo had awakened JaeJoong deliberately early, it was half past nine in the evening and the mall was still open. JaeJoong’s eyes became big by the thought of going out and looked at YunHo, not sure how to react around him. He embraced him happily, jumped out of his bed and started to clutter in his wardrobe. Only when he noticed that YunHo was standing behind him he realized what he had done, he had embraced YunHo! Immediately he slowed his movements and tried to control himself and behave indifferently towards YunHo.
JaeJoong ignored YunHo’s laughing, though he felt himself becoming warm inside when he saw YunHo smiling. With a red face he looked straight into the closet and found what he sought. “Ehm YunHo, would you wait outside till I’m ready?” Asked JaeJoong and looked a bit uncomfortable at YunHo. “Of course” answered YunHo to JaeJoong’s great relief and left JaeJoong's bedroom. Now he was alone in his room he heaved a deep sigh and felt stupid, he reacted really stupid when YunHo was with him. Quickly, he shook his head and refused to think further about YunHo, YunHo would take him outside in a few minutes and that was all what mattered now. He quickly refreshed himself in the bathroom and pulled as fast as he could his clothes on, he did not want to miss one minute now he finally could leave the house, though he had no idea where YunHo would take him to. When JaeJoong opened the door and wanted to walk further he bumped right into YunHo’s arms! Apparently YunHo had waited the whole time in front of his closed door! JaeJoong stepped back and stared uncomfortably at YunHo. “Eh, where are you taking me to?” JaeJoong avoided YunHo's gaze, hoping that YunHo had not see his embarrassing expression.
“Come” YunHo decided to spare JaeJoong this time and ignored JaeJoong’s flushed face. He grabbed JaeJoong's hand tightly and felt that JaeJoong's hand slightly trembled in his, but he did not lose his grip on JaeJoong’s hand. “You know soon enough where we going, have some patience.” YunHo pulled JaeJoong closer when they left the house and smiled when he saw how nervous he was. “Relax I'm sure you will have fun.” YunHo had ordered a taxi, knowing that JaeJoong could not walk as fast and long as YunHo and he also knew that JaeJoong would not like it if he would carry him. YunHo opened the door, helped JaeJoong into the taxi and sat down beside him. YunHo talked quickly with the driver and said where he wanted to be brought. When the taxi started driving he pulled JaeJoong closer to him, but JaeJoong surprised him with his reaction, he leaned closer to YunHo! But when YunHo wanted to smile encouraging at him he saw that JaeJoong was avoiding his gaze. YunHo could not look away from JaeJoong’s face and stared the whole trip constantly at his face. JaeJoong started to flush when YunHo watched him and he eventually looked frustrated up at him. “Would you please look the other way?” “Why? Am I making you nervous?” Asked YunHo playfully.
JaeJoong gave YunHo no answer and was relieved when de taxi eventually stopped in a part of the city that he did not know. YunHo opened his door, paid the driver and grabbed his hand when they walked toward the mall. “JaeJoong? JaeJoong!” YunHo froze and cursed his carelessness. ChangMin ran to them and when JaeJoong saw his best friend he quickly let YunHo’s hand loose, he did a few steps away from YunHo as if he and YunHo were not together. YunHo was disappointed in JaeJoong when he saw JaeJoong’s reaction toward him but tried to ignore it, he had other things to worry about now. He must influence ChangMin again and that when he stood in the middle of the street with a lot people around him, Especially young people who are getting ready for the nightlife, they were tipsy and noisy. ChangMin looked quickly from YunHo to JaeJoong but did not recognize him. YunHo saw in ChangMin’s thoughts that he was only surprised that JaeJoong was not on a vacation but still home.
“Hyung, I thought that you were on a vacation! Why haven’t you told methat you were already back?” ChangMin hugged JaeJoong and again threw a questioning glance at YunHo, waiting for JaeJoong to introduce them. But JaeJoong did not know what he must do, he did not know what ChangMin was remembering from their previous meeting and was wondering what he should tell him. YunHo saw JaeJoong’s hesitation and stepped forward, made a polite bow for ChangMin, wrapped his arm around JaeJoong’s shoulder and introduced himself to ChangMin. When he was doing this he ignored JaeJoong’s shocked expression and pulled JaeJoong even closer to him. “Hi, you’re Shim ChangMin, JaeJoong’s best friend! Jae has told me a lot about you, how are you doing? I’m Jung YunHo, JaeJoong’s friend.” YunHo tried to kiss JaeJoong on his cheek but JaeJoong was faster and turned his head away from YunHo, he did a few steps away from YunHo and freed himself from YunHo’s strong grip. JaeJoong looked ashamed at YunHo before he looked at ChangMin. “He wants to be my friend, bet he is not” joked JaeJoong and patted YunHo laughing on his shoulder. ChangMin blinked with his eyes and was surprised, JaeJoong was acting strange, as if he was forcing himself to laugh. But he was not sure about it...
“ChangMin, what are you doing here? And how are you doing?” JaeJoong tried to distract ChangMin from asking questions and he threw without ChangMin’s knowing a warning glance to YunHo. JaeJoong felt really guilty that he had reacted so to YunHo but he had no other choice. He could not and did not want to admit that he and YunHo were mated. “I have drunk something with friends and wanted to go home when I saw you. Are you going home to? Or are you staying with YunHo? I haven’t see you home in a few weeks…” ChangMin watched YunHo curious, not sure if they were dating or not. He knew his Hyung and knew that JaeJoong was not looking for a new relationship, and certainly not without telling him about it...
“JaeJoong is coming with me” YunHo placed his arm around JaeJoong’s waist and his voice sounded cold. JaeJoong had really hurt him by reacting so negative and to deny the bond between them. But still, despite the fact that JaeJoong had hurt him with his behavior he was forgiving JaeJoong. It was impossible for YunHo to stay angry at his stubborn mate. JaeJoong stiffened when he felt YunHo’s arm but said nothing and did no attempt to think of a excuse whey YunHo did this to him. JaeJoong stared unhappy forward and said nothing. ChangMin started to worry when he saw the reaction from his Hyung and looked suspicious at YunHo. “JaeJoong, is everything okay with you?” JaeJoong opened his mouth to answer ChangMin’s question but felt silent when YunHo stepped forward and placed his hand over ChangMin’s shoulder. YunHo stared intensely at ChangMin before he spoke, “You haven’t seen me or JaeJoong this evening and you’re going to your home as if this is a normal evening. When you are home you can’t remember anything about our meeting and you’re thinking that JaeJoong is still on a vacation.” YunHo let ChangMin’s shoulder go and did a few steps beck. ChangMin blinked a few times with his eyes and walked away with a hazy look in his eyes.
“What have you done!” Shouted JaeJoong suddenly and stomped like a little kid with his feet on the ground. “It is better for us but also better for your friend if he doesn’t remember what has happened” YunHo answered shortly and pulled JaeJoong with his hand after him. “I have brought you to the mall for a special reason and I want to go to what we’re coming for before the mall is closing tonight.” YunHo was again slightly irritated, He had hoped that JaeJoong would come slightly loose against him, but JaeJoong was apparently ashamed of him when they were not alone! JaeJoong did not protest again but he was also irritated and YunHo did know why. He was blaming himself that he reacted so strongly on JaeJoong’s behavior, because everything what JaeJoong did was normal and he had the right to be unruly! He had everything taken away what he had, his house, his friends… But YunHo had hoped that JaeJoong would give him some gratitude because he had given JaeJoong already so much in return!
YunHo suddenly stopped and looked at JaeJoong with a smile. “Close your eyes and follow me.” JaeJoong was a little surprised and hesitated, he was worried what would happen and where YunHo would take him to. He did not know this part of the city and did not know where YunHo would bring him to. “Please, trust me…” tried YunHo and saw to his great relieve that JaeJoong did what he had asked. JaeJoong closed his eyes and grabbed to YunHo’s biggest joy his hand, searching for guidance. YunHo grinned and walked with JaeJoong a few meters forward before he opened the door to a animal shop. They were immediately greeted by the sounds from barking dogs and the meow of the many little kittens. The saleswoman looked a little tired when she saw that she had costumers on this hour in the evening but said nothing. JaeJoong opened his eyes and stared with a surprised expression on his face around him, he had not suspected this. YunHo was not sure if JaeJoong wanted to have a pet, he had see nothing in JaeJoong’s thought about a pet and he did not know if he had ever owned a animal. But when JaeJoong had a pet he would not been so alone during the hours when he was asleep during the day. “What do you think? Do you want a pet?” YunHo walked to a box with a few little puppies and tickled the little dogs behind their ears. JaeJoong stood still in the middle of the shop and stared surprised at YunHo. He had not suspected this side of YunHo, a vampire who walked into a animal shop and who played with a few little puppies?
YunHo grinned when he heard JaeJoong’s thoughts and looked up at him, “don’t look so surprised, I’m not a monster and if I’m honest to you I must tell that I love animals.” Slowly he walked to YunHo and stood next to him. He looked at the puppies in the box and smiled when the puppies were licking his fingers. JaeJoong looked into the box besides the puppies and found a few little kittens, laying under a warm blanket. One little kitten immediately attracted his attention.the kitten was really small, had a half long coat and a curious snout. YunHo saw JaeJoong’s interest and beckoned the saleswoman. “Can we see this little one?” YunHo pointed at the little kitten whom had JaeJoong’s attention. The saleswoman lifted the little kitten up out the box and gave it to JaeJoong. “This is a special breed, The Deva Masquarade.” YunHo realized that the saleswomen called the kitten on purpose by his full name called, hoping to impress YunHo but was disappointed when YunHo did not react. YunHo looked only at JaeJoong and saw that he was in love with the little kitten. “Do you want to have him?” JaeJoong nodded quickly but doubtfully, could he ask this from YunHo? This kitten must be very pricey. YunHo gave him a soft squeeze in his hand end turned his attention to the saleswomen. “We want this kitten and all the related stuff, this is our first cat.” YunHo put extra emphasis on the word our to make clear that he and JaeJoong were a couple and that he had no interest in a simply, mortal woman who was seduced by his mysterious appearance. The saleswomen was not happy, she understood the hint… She turned him her back and did what he had asked her to do. She packed all the stuff they needed for their cat in a bag and a few minutes later he and JaeJoong left the shop with a little hairball in JaeJoong’s arms. JaeJoong was now so distracted that he had forgotten that he was angry at YunHo.
The taxi ride home was quick, JaeJoong was looking at the sleeping animal in his arms and thanked YunHo over and over. YunHo made up from JaeJoong's thoughts that he never had a pet before. When he lived with his parents they didn’t want a animal in their home and when he has his own home he was too busy. But when the taxi stopped in front of YunHo’s home JaeJoong hesitated. Where YooChun and JunSu still home? YunHo helped JaeJoong when he stepped out the car and dragged his bags inside. When JaeJoong followed YunHo inside he saw that the house was abandoned. On the kitchen table lay a letter, addressed to YunHo.
YunHo and JaeJoong,
JunSu and I have left the house a few minutes after you.
We assume that all will be well with you and JaeJoong and that you no longer need our help.
JunSu advised you especially to not push JaeJoong too much and to give him all the time he needs, when you’re doing that he will be knowing that you only wants to help him.
We have left not only because we know that everything will be alright with you two but also because of JunSu, his time has come and it is his time now to transform into a vampire. JunSu and I are wishing you and JaeJoong good luck and when JaeJoong has transformed into a vampire like JunSu we come back to congratulate you!

“Is that letter from YooChun?” JaeJoong walked with the little kitten in his arms to YunHo and stared curious at the letter in YunHo’s hands. “Where are YooChun and JunSu?” JaeJoong tried not to sound too hopeful, but he secretly hoped they were gone and that he had YunHo for himself. Immediately when he had thought that he looked ashamed away from YunHo, hoping that YunHo didn’t read his thoughts. A smile appeared on YunHo’s face and JaeJoong knew that YunHo had heard him, but he said nothing, he did not want to make JaeJoong uneasy. “YooChun and JunSu are gone, JunSu needs YooChun’s help and it is better now for them to be alone.” YunHo did not say that JunSu would transform into a vampire, that was a subject he later wanted to discuss with JaeJoong, when he was ready for it. YunHo folded the letter up and put it in his pocked before he turned to JaeJoong. “And?” How do you want to call you new pet?” JaeJoong frowned, “he is a male, so… What do you think of Micky?” YunHo looked surprised at JaeJoong and nodded, “it is a strange name, but I like it. Where did the name come from?” JaeJoong tickled Micky behind his little ears and looked up at YunHo. “From a American cartoon, Micky Mouse.” YunHo laughed suddenly hard, “you’ve named a cat after a cartoon mouse?” JaeJoong looked indignant and pushed Micky closer to him. “It is a nice name and I like it” YunHo grinned and before JaeJoong could walk away and tickled Micky just as JaeJoong behind his ears.
YunHo opened his mouth to say something to JaeJoong when he suddenly stiffened. He stared uneasily at the door and then at JaeJoong. “Quickly, hide yourself upstairs and don’t come down before I have called you!” JaeJoong stared with a scared expression at YunHo and fled away with Micky in his arms. Never before had he seen YunHo this way and he was not stupid, he saw that YunHo was worrying about something. Not much later JaeJoong heard how there was a knock on the door and a harsh voice. "Jung YunHo, open the door and let me in!"

Just like the vampires outside? And why am I here, in the living room while I’m sleeping?” Thought JaeJoong, assuming that YunHo could hear him. He did not want to speak out loud, not sure how YooChun would react and not sure if he smelled the same for YooChun as he smelled for the vampires outside, who had tried to kill him. YunHo stood up without answering JaeJoong’s question and helped him on his feet. “Come, let’s make a walk around the house. And don’t worry about dangers, there are no vampires outside who could attack us now. YunHo grabbed JaeJoong’s hand again and dragged him out of the house, not paying any attention to JaeJoong’s protests.
JaeJoong felt himself become stuffy when YunHo was taking him outside and into the fresh air. He did not want to go outside, he has not forgotten what had happened with him the last time he was outside, though he had not much choice. YunHo grabbed JaeJoong’s hand and walked through the garden, enjoying the fresh night air. “Thank you that you have given me a chance, I will not disappoint you!” YunHo smiled at him and suppressed the urge to pull JaeJoong close to him. JaeJoong said nothing to YunHo and stared at the ground, not knowing what he must say to him. “Jae… The vampire who you have seen inside the house is my brother Park YooChun, we have grown up together… You don’t need to be afraid of him, he has himself well under control. As long as he doesn’t breathe through his nose he cannot smell you and he would not harm you. And even if he would smell you, then JunSu is still in there in order to reassure him. JunSu is YooChun’s mate and he is able to sooth him, how difficult the situation may be.” YunHo tried to reassure JaeJoong, YooChun and JunSu were his family and they belonged to him. He did not want that JaeJoong was afraid of his friends and the only family he had.
JaeJoong did not know what to say, the idea to trust a vampire who could kill him if he wanted, and without knowing anything about his past, who he was and what he was able to. He did not like the idea to trust YooChun, even if YunHo knew him and even loved him as a brother. “I understand why you’re hesitating and I can wait till you’re ready” he answered JaeJoong’s worrying thoughts. He gave a reassuring squeeze in JaeJoong’s hand before he started walking again. “What would happen now? I have my own work, my house and what can I say to my friends and my neighbors? Can I come back to my home or…” JaeJoong did not want to think about everything he would leave behind if he would come with YunHo, he had worked really hard to accomplish everything he owned. YunHo stopped suddenly with his walk and looked intently at JaeJoong. “It is not a good idea to go home now or to make plans for what we should do later. My brothers can smell your scent on every location where you mostly have been. They would search for you and watch those places. I know what I’m talking about, I have seen it before with the mates from my other brothers and sisters. They would not stop till they have you, or till your smell has disappeared. Till then they would hunt you down, and only the smell from another human, like you who has found his mated vampire can distract them. I can’t make a promise to you when you can go home, not till I’m sure that you are safe.

JaeJoong sat next to the window and stared outside. He had pulled the sail slightly up and attached to a piece of adhesive tape. It was still dark outside and it was now safe for the vampires to remove the sails. He sometimes saw a lonely vampire walking in the garden, and every vampire stared hungrily at him, but they were not trying to come closer to the house, knowing that they could not enter and they all left. The whole time JaeJoong refused to show the vampires his fear and looked at every vampire with a blank expression, trying to look uninterested in them. YunHo had asked him a few times why he sat by the window and making it difficult for himself. He wanted to know why JaeJoong wanted to watch every vampire in the garden and asked him a few times if he wanted to come sit with him. JaeJoong did not answer YunHo’s questions and stared stubborn through the window. He had accepted that YunHo was a vampire and he knew now that he belonged to him, he was also not so scared anymore. But that did not mean that he agreed with what was happening with him, there was still so much he did not understand and he wanted to know what he could suspect from YunHo. He knew YunHo’s name and he felt safe when he was with him, even though he knew that YunHo was a vampire… But he did not know much more than that. He wanted to know who YunHo really was. The reason why he looked through the window was simple, he wanted to distract himself.
JaeJoong was also still not sure if he could trust JunSu because he knew that JunSu was loyal to YooChun, a vampire…JunSu came every now and then to him, trying to make a small talk with him but JaeJoong ignored JunSu just like YunHo. JaeJoong was not sure how to react in YunHo’s presence and that was making him unsure. Never before had he had a serious relationship before and every relation he had never lasted longer than three or four weeks! Before he had met YunHo he had decided that he would not start a new relationship with someone, he was simply not ready for it. He was simply not ready for it then and he was not sure if he was now. And now he had met YunHo, who was making his head dizzy with only his presence! YunHo had said honestly that he was not leaving him, never… And that was JaeJoong’s point, he did not know if he could handle this. He wanted to be free, he wanted to do the things he always had done! He wanted to undertake things, going on vacation to a warm land, with friends… He had so many things he wanted to do, things he could no longer do now he was with YunHo. He could not go with YunHo to a hot country on vacation, enjoying the sun, sit still with a cocktail in his hands... He must change all his plans, everything he had planned to do… Only because he was with YunHo, as if he was YunHo’s property! Of course he knew that YunHo was not considering him as his property, but it did the same thing, he could not go away from YunHo if he wanted, he had no choice. The choice if he wanted to live alone, without YunHo was already made for him!
At dawn YooChun walked cautiously up to him, he did not want to scare JaeJoong and coughed to let JaeJoong know that he was coming to him. JaeJoong moved immediately away from YooChun and fled to the other corner of the room. JaeJoong knew that YunHo trusted YooChun, but he was still not sure about it and didn’t trust him yet. YooChun pulled the sail free and covered the window with it. Immediately the room was plunged into darkness... JaeJoong started to feel unsure now he could not see YooChun anymore. The whole room was dark and he was not sure where YooChun now was. Only when JunSu turned on the light in the living room JaeJoong relaxed a bit, he saw that YooChun was gone! YooChun stood in the farthest corner from the living room with his eyes closed, as if he concentrated on something. Worried JaeJoong wondered if YooChun had breathed thought his nose and had smelled his cent. Only when YooChun was sitting down with JunSu on his lap he relaxed visibly. He sniffed with his nose in JunSu’s neck and breathed JunSu’s smell to distract himself. When JaeJoong saw this he knew that the danger was over and he wondered what he must do now. He had nothing in this house that was his, he had no book to read and even the kitchen was sparsely furnished, he had nothing to do during the long hours he sat still here in this house.
JaeJoong decided to go to bed, he had nothing to do now it was dark inside the house and he could no longer look through the window. Sleeping was not difficult now, it was always dark inside the house. And besides that, he had nothing better to do during the day now he was weak in the sunlight. He did not know where YunHo was, he had not see him and he was definitely not home, not that he was worried about YunHo… It did not matter to him… JaeJoong opened every room and looked inside, checking if he was really alone and to see if YunHo had returned home. When he didn’t find YunHo he locked himself, a little disappointed, up in his room. He knew that it was useless to lock the door, he sat in a house full of vampires and if they wanted they could break the door open, but he tried to not think about it… When JaeJoong lay in his bed he realized that he secretly missed YunHo, though he would never admit it to anyone, never! Thinking about YunHo he fell asleep…
…”JaeJoong?” A warm fingertip was stroking his cheek and JaeJoong pressed sleepy his face something closer to the warm hand. “JaeJoong, wake up…” This time JaeJoong recognized YunHo’s voice and realized that what he did. With a jerk he pulled his head back, away from YunHo’s hand. Ashamed he sat upright in his bed and pulled his blankets higher, trying to cover his now red face. “What is it?” JaeJoong picked nervously at his blanket and did not dare it to look at YunHo, he still felt ashamed for his previous affectionate response. JaeJoong looked up when he heard how YunHo grinned and saw that he looked at him smiling broadly. “What? Why are you laughing?” JaeJoong snarled frustrated. “You're cute when you blush” smiled YunHo and lay beneath the covers and on his lap before he could protest or indignation could respond. “Do you want to go with me? I’m taking you to the mall, it is still not so late and the shops are still open.” YunHo had awakened JaeJoong deliberately early, it was half past nine in the evening and the mall was still open. JaeJoong’s eyes became big by the thought of going out and looked at YunHo, not sure how to react around him. He embraced him happily, jumped out of his bed and started to clutter in his wardrobe. Only when he noticed that YunHo was standing behind him he realized what he had done, he had embraced YunHo! Immediately he slowed his movements and tried to control himself and behave indifferently towards YunHo.
JaeJoong ignored YunHo’s laughing, though he felt himself becoming warm inside when he saw YunHo smiling. With a red face he looked straight into the closet and found what he sought. “Ehm YunHo, would you wait outside till I’m ready?” Asked JaeJoong and looked a bit uncomfortable at YunHo. “Of course” answered YunHo to JaeJoong’s great relief and left JaeJoong's bedroom. Now he was alone in his room he heaved a deep sigh and felt stupid, he reacted really stupid when YunHo was with him. Quickly, he shook his head and refused to think further about YunHo, YunHo would take him outside in a few minutes and that was all what mattered now. He quickly refreshed himself in the bathroom and pulled as fast as he could his clothes on, he did not want to miss one minute now he finally could leave the house, though he had no idea where YunHo would take him to. When JaeJoong opened the door and wanted to walk further he bumped right into YunHo’s arms! Apparently YunHo had waited the whole time in front of his closed door! JaeJoong stepped back and stared uncomfortably at YunHo. “Eh, where are you taking me to?” JaeJoong avoided YunHo's gaze, hoping that YunHo had not see his embarrassing expression.
“Come” YunHo decided to spare JaeJoong this time and ignored JaeJoong’s flushed face. He grabbed JaeJoong's hand tightly and felt that JaeJoong's hand slightly trembled in his, but he did not lose his grip on JaeJoong’s hand. “You know soon enough where we going, have some patience.” YunHo pulled JaeJoong closer when they left the house and smiled when he saw how nervous he was. “Relax I'm sure you will have fun.” YunHo had ordered a taxi, knowing that JaeJoong could not walk as fast and long as YunHo and he also knew that JaeJoong would not like it if he would carry him. YunHo opened the door, helped JaeJoong into the taxi and sat down beside him. YunHo talked quickly with the driver and said where he wanted to be brought. When the taxi started driving he pulled JaeJoong closer to him, but JaeJoong surprised him with his reaction, he leaned closer to YunHo! But when YunHo wanted to smile encouraging at him he saw that JaeJoong was avoiding his gaze. YunHo could not look away from JaeJoong’s face and stared the whole trip constantly at his face. JaeJoong started to flush when YunHo watched him and he eventually looked frustrated up at him. “Would you please look the other way?” “Why? Am I making you nervous?” Asked YunHo playfully.
JaeJoong gave YunHo no answer and was relieved when de taxi eventually stopped in a part of the city that he did not know. YunHo opened his door, paid the driver and grabbed his hand when they walked toward the mall. “JaeJoong? JaeJoong!” YunHo froze and cursed his carelessness. ChangMin ran to them and when JaeJoong saw his best friend he quickly let YunHo’s hand loose, he did a few steps away from YunHo as if he and YunHo were not together. YunHo was disappointed in JaeJoong when he saw JaeJoong’s reaction toward him but tried to ignore it, he had other things to worry about now. He must influence ChangMin again and that when he stood in the middle of the street with a lot people around him, Especially young people who are getting ready for the nightlife, they were tipsy and noisy. ChangMin looked quickly from YunHo to JaeJoong but did not recognize him. YunHo saw in ChangMin’s thoughts that he was only surprised that JaeJoong was not on a vacation but still home.
“Hyung, I thought that you were on a vacation! Why haven’t you told methat you were already back?” ChangMin hugged JaeJoong and again threw a questioning glance at YunHo, waiting for JaeJoong to introduce them. But JaeJoong did not know what he must do, he did not know what ChangMin was remembering from their previous meeting and was wondering what he should tell him. YunHo saw JaeJoong’s hesitation and stepped forward, made a polite bow for ChangMin, wrapped his arm around JaeJoong’s shoulder and introduced himself to ChangMin. When he was doing this he ignored JaeJoong’s shocked expression and pulled JaeJoong even closer to him. “Hi, you’re Shim ChangMin, JaeJoong’s best friend! Jae has told me a lot about you, how are you doing? I’m Jung YunHo, JaeJoong’s friend.” YunHo tried to kiss JaeJoong on his cheek but JaeJoong was faster and turned his head away from YunHo, he did a few steps away from YunHo and freed himself from YunHo’s strong grip. JaeJoong looked ashamed at YunHo before he looked at ChangMin. “He wants to be my friend, bet he is not” joked JaeJoong and patted YunHo laughing on his shoulder. ChangMin blinked with his eyes and was surprised, JaeJoong was acting strange, as if he was forcing himself to laugh. But he was not sure about it...
“ChangMin, what are you doing here? And how are you doing?” JaeJoong tried to distract ChangMin from asking questions and he threw without ChangMin’s knowing a warning glance to YunHo. JaeJoong felt really guilty that he had reacted so to YunHo but he had no other choice. He could not and did not want to admit that he and YunHo were mated. “I have drunk something with friends and wanted to go home when I saw you. Are you going home to? Or are you staying with YunHo? I haven’t see you home in a few weeks…” ChangMin watched YunHo curious, not sure if they were dating or not. He knew his Hyung and knew that JaeJoong was not looking for a new relationship, and certainly not without telling him about it...
“JaeJoong is coming with me” YunHo placed his arm around JaeJoong’s waist and his voice sounded cold. JaeJoong had really hurt him by reacting so negative and to deny the bond between them. But still, despite the fact that JaeJoong had hurt him with his behavior he was forgiving JaeJoong. It was impossible for YunHo to stay angry at his stubborn mate. JaeJoong stiffened when he felt YunHo’s arm but said nothing and did no attempt to think of a excuse whey YunHo did this to him. JaeJoong stared unhappy forward and said nothing. ChangMin started to worry when he saw the reaction from his Hyung and looked suspicious at YunHo. “JaeJoong, is everything okay with you?” JaeJoong opened his mouth to answer ChangMin’s question but felt silent when YunHo stepped forward and placed his hand over ChangMin’s shoulder. YunHo stared intensely at ChangMin before he spoke, “You haven’t seen me or JaeJoong this evening and you’re going to your home as if this is a normal evening. When you are home you can’t remember anything about our meeting and you’re thinking that JaeJoong is still on a vacation.” YunHo let ChangMin’s shoulder go and did a few steps beck. ChangMin blinked a few times with his eyes and walked away with a hazy look in his eyes.
“What have you done!” Shouted JaeJoong suddenly and stomped like a little kid with his feet on the ground. “It is better for us but also better for your friend if he doesn’t remember what has happened” YunHo answered shortly and pulled JaeJoong with his hand after him. “I have brought you to the mall for a special reason and I want to go to what we’re coming for before the mall is closing tonight.” YunHo was again slightly irritated, He had hoped that JaeJoong would come slightly loose against him, but JaeJoong was apparently ashamed of him when they were not alone! JaeJoong did not protest again but he was also irritated and YunHo did know why. He was blaming himself that he reacted so strongly on JaeJoong’s behavior, because everything what JaeJoong did was normal and he had the right to be unruly! He had everything taken away what he had, his house, his friends… But YunHo had hoped that JaeJoong would give him some gratitude because he had given JaeJoong already so much in return!
YunHo suddenly stopped and looked at JaeJoong with a smile. “Close your eyes and follow me.” JaeJoong was a little surprised and hesitated, he was worried what would happen and where YunHo would take him to. He did not know this part of the city and did not know where YunHo would bring him to. “Please, trust me…” tried YunHo and saw to his great relieve that JaeJoong did what he had asked. JaeJoong closed his eyes and grabbed to YunHo’s biggest joy his hand, searching for guidance. YunHo grinned and walked with JaeJoong a few meters forward before he opened the door to a animal shop. They were immediately greeted by the sounds from barking dogs and the meow of the many little kittens. The saleswoman looked a little tired when she saw that she had costumers on this hour in the evening but said nothing. JaeJoong opened his eyes and stared with a surprised expression on his face around him, he had not suspected this. YunHo was not sure if JaeJoong wanted to have a pet, he had see nothing in JaeJoong’s thought about a pet and he did not know if he had ever owned a animal. But when JaeJoong had a pet he would not been so alone during the hours when he was asleep during the day. “What do you think? Do you want a pet?” YunHo walked to a box with a few little puppies and tickled the little dogs behind their ears. JaeJoong stood still in the middle of the shop and stared surprised at YunHo. He had not suspected this side of YunHo, a vampire who walked into a animal shop and who played with a few little puppies?
YunHo grinned when he heard JaeJoong’s thoughts and looked up at him, “don’t look so surprised, I’m not a monster and if I’m honest to you I must tell that I love animals.” Slowly he walked to YunHo and stood next to him. He looked at the puppies in the box and smiled when the puppies were licking his fingers. JaeJoong looked into the box besides the puppies and found a few little kittens, laying under a warm blanket. One little kitten immediately attracted his attention.the kitten was really small, had a half long coat and a curious snout. YunHo saw JaeJoong’s interest and beckoned the saleswoman. “Can we see this little one?” YunHo pointed at the little kitten whom had JaeJoong’s attention. The saleswoman lifted the little kitten up out the box and gave it to JaeJoong. “This is a special breed, The Deva Masquarade.” YunHo realized that the saleswomen called the kitten on purpose by his full name called, hoping to impress YunHo but was disappointed when YunHo did not react. YunHo looked only at JaeJoong and saw that he was in love with the little kitten. “Do you want to have him?” JaeJoong nodded quickly but doubtfully, could he ask this from YunHo? This kitten must be very pricey. YunHo gave him a soft squeeze in his hand end turned his attention to the saleswomen. “We want this kitten and all the related stuff, this is our first cat.” YunHo put extra emphasis on the word our to make clear that he and JaeJoong were a couple and that he had no interest in a simply, mortal woman who was seduced by his mysterious appearance. The saleswomen was not happy, she understood the hint… She turned him her back and did what he had asked her to do. She packed all the stuff they needed for their cat in a bag and a few minutes later he and JaeJoong left the shop with a little hairball in JaeJoong’s arms. JaeJoong was now so distracted that he had forgotten that he was angry at YunHo.
The taxi ride home was quick, JaeJoong was looking at the sleeping animal in his arms and thanked YunHo over and over. YunHo made up from JaeJoong's thoughts that he never had a pet before. When he lived with his parents they didn’t want a animal in their home and when he has his own home he was too busy. But when the taxi stopped in front of YunHo’s home JaeJoong hesitated. Where YooChun and JunSu still home? YunHo helped JaeJoong when he stepped out the car and dragged his bags inside. When JaeJoong followed YunHo inside he saw that the house was abandoned. On the kitchen table lay a letter, addressed to YunHo.
YunHo and JaeJoong,
JunSu and I have left the house a few minutes after you.
We assume that all will be well with you and JaeJoong and that you no longer need our help.
JunSu advised you especially to not push JaeJoong too much and to give him all the time he needs, when you’re doing that he will be knowing that you only wants to help him.
We have left not only because we know that everything will be alright with you two but also because of JunSu, his time has come and it is his time now to transform into a vampire. JunSu and I are wishing you and JaeJoong good luck and when JaeJoong has transformed into a vampire like JunSu we come back to congratulate you!

“Is that letter from YooChun?” JaeJoong walked with the little kitten in his arms to YunHo and stared curious at the letter in YunHo’s hands. “Where are YooChun and JunSu?” JaeJoong tried not to sound too hopeful, but he secretly hoped they were gone and that he had YunHo for himself. Immediately when he had thought that he looked ashamed away from YunHo, hoping that YunHo didn’t read his thoughts. A smile appeared on YunHo’s face and JaeJoong knew that YunHo had heard him, but he said nothing, he did not want to make JaeJoong uneasy. “YooChun and JunSu are gone, JunSu needs YooChun’s help and it is better now for them to be alone.” YunHo did not say that JunSu would transform into a vampire, that was a subject he later wanted to discuss with JaeJoong, when he was ready for it. YunHo folded the letter up and put it in his pocked before he turned to JaeJoong. “And?” How do you want to call you new pet?” JaeJoong frowned, “he is a male, so… What do you think of Micky?” YunHo looked surprised at JaeJoong and nodded, “it is a strange name, but I like it. Where did the name come from?” JaeJoong tickled Micky behind his little ears and looked up at YunHo. “From a American cartoon, Micky Mouse.” YunHo laughed suddenly hard, “you’ve named a cat after a cartoon mouse?” JaeJoong looked indignant and pushed Micky closer to him. “It is a nice name and I like it” YunHo grinned and before JaeJoong could walk away and tickled Micky just as JaeJoong behind his ears.
YunHo opened his mouth to say something to JaeJoong when he suddenly stiffened. He stared uneasily at the door and then at JaeJoong. “Quickly, hide yourself upstairs and don’t come down before I have called you!” JaeJoong stared with a scared expression at YunHo and fled away with Micky in his arms. Never before had he seen YunHo this way and he was not stupid, he saw that YunHo was worrying about something. Not much later JaeJoong heard how there was a knock on the door and a harsh voice. "Jung YunHo, open the door and let me in!"
