My last final exam is tomorrow at 3 PM and deals mostly with James Joyce. I'm coming home on Saturday for the summer. I've been packing and cleaning a lot this week while still finding time to study and sleep in. It's not as easy as it sounds, trust me ( Read more... )

hehe. I love you.

By the way. The Da Vinci Code, Superman.
Only because I'd rather see a movie based on a book than a movie based on a comic. But you're probably right.

I think MI3 will be last actually, only because Tom Cruise is FUCKING PSYCHO!!!! And I've never seen the first two, it just doesn't seem like a girl movie. But I've never seen it.

Superman is not just a comic book, though. It is THE comic book. Everyone loves Superman.

The first MI is cool, the 2nd one is pretty outlandish and even dumb at times, but still pretty fun.

I agree with you that he is rather strange...
but ya know, he's really nice, and a really good actor...

I'm telling you though, the movies are pretty hot! lol

Yeah, I think with Cruise's bad PR, X-Men will definately beat it out. Mission Impossible did have a following, but not as much as X-Men I dont think. I could be wrong!

Tom Cruise's bad PR peaked last summer, but it didn't stop War of the Worlds from being huge. That, and M:I2 was huge way back when. I'm also thinking that as big as the X-Men movies have been, they've never been in the top five of the year. They have been what I call "modest blockbusters."

*Starts singing "Blame Canada!"

Er...ummm...Forget I sang that. But yeah I think X-Men's gonna beat out MI3. Just a personal opinion.

And (even though I wouldn't want it to) I think Pirates of the Carribean is gonna beat out Superman. People like Johnny Depp too much. lol. But I do say Superman's going to do very well none the less. Personally, I'm planning on seeing all 5 of them, so my viewing wouldn't really have much effect on the competition.

Have you seen the movie about James Joyce called "Nora"? If not, don't rent it unless you're in the mood for Ewan McGregor gettin' pretty nasty...it's basically porn. lol.

holy shit. I've seen one of those movies. They're like really bad porn right? With Ewan? We watched Young Adam. Yeah it was like...two hours of bad dialogue and then a huge sex/rape scene with custard. Apparently Ewan did a lot of those indie movies in his earlier days. That's what they tell me atleast.

There were four years in between the first and second M:I, and the second one was kind of stupid, but it kicked ass at the box office. Quality never, ever directly corelates with big box office. Lack of any real plot certainly didn't stop people from dishing out millions to see Cruise's last mega blockbuster "War of the Worlds". The only way to assume that a movie will do worse based on poor quality (and that only happens when the movie is 'Batman & Robin'-caliber awful, which I don't think J.J. "Lost/Alias" Abrams is capable of delivering) would be to concede that Titanic is the greatest movie ever made. Ever. I know that's a broad argument, but it's the way I see it. Besides, Philip Seymour Hoffman + spy movie supervillain = awesome ( ... )

1) I think the only real thing you said that I disagree with is that being a family friendly doesn't mean much. I see your point with the whole pseudo-sequel thing. My issue with the family movies is that it's a Comedy/Action/Adventures. That not only is perfect for everyone in the family like the kids, but also is good for the older adults as well. You would be surprised how many people go to the movies just to shut their kids up. While I am not happy for the being the incentive to go to the movies for many people it only helps the industry. But with Pirates it has a loyal fanbase and already had people who saw the first one several times in theaters. Plus I wouldn't underestimate the power of those women who just go because they love Johnny Depp. In addition it also was one of the top rentals for longer then most other films. This reminds me of the Austin Powers movies, in which the first one was better, while the second grossed more in theaters just because so many people did wait for it to come out on video before they rented it ( ... )

Remember that Smallville has been a hit on a teen-oriented network for several years, and that Lois & Clark was a hit among adults.

Like I said, Superman is for everybody.
