Job
Well, finally, the job I've been doing for the last 8 months has been advertised in the government gazette and I can now apply for it. Fortunately I am on three weeks leave starting today, so I will actually have some time to sit down and write the key selection criteria. Boy, I hate doing those things; they can be really tough. Memorial Service for Jim Cox
Jim's memorial service was held today, and it really was lovely. We all sang beautifully, which was really quite remarkable considering that some of us were crying at the same time. (Yes, I know, you wouldn't have thought it was possible, but somehow...more below ( Read more... ) -
Broadband
I decided to bite the bullet a couple of weeks ago and sign up for broadband. I'm using a mobile service so that, if I want to, I can use it with the laptop. I also like it because it's not on all the time, and I suspect that is probably more secure than the wired services. Tooth!
Well, after more than a week of agonizing, ibuprofen-resistant pain, I finally had a troublesome tooth extracted this afternoon. It was one of the ones second from the back, so it won't be noticeable when I smile, thank goodness. Fortunately, the last couple of days the root must have died and the pain went away. New Shiny Things!

Yesterday I wandered into Harvey Norman and bought myself a brand spanking new computer. And a nice glossy new monitor to go with it. Sadly, as I'm still on dial-up internet, web surfing isn't any faster than it was before, but at least everything else doesn't take five minutes just to open a file. -
New Shiny Things!
I'm all excited! I bought myself a brand new Nokia N73 mobile phone yesterday, and am now on the 3 network. It does all sorts of fancy things, including web browsing and accessing my Yahoo email (or at least, it will once I figure out how to make it work!).

Aaaahh, Retail Therapy!
Well, I took myself down to Harbour Town on Saturday because my favourite clothing shop has an outlet store there now, and I was hoping to pick up some bargains. I haven't been to HT since it first opened, and it certainly has expanded, although I think Chermside is bigger.
