You know, I've been thinking about delivering a fruit basket to the librarians for YEARS. It's healthy, colourful while it lasts, if you make it nice and crafty it can stay in the office and be re-used, and you can fill it with lots of chocolates and fruits. But, I'm thinking that maybe not all of your volunteers are always in once place - does it have to be mail-able?

One thing you could do is try to recruit more volunteers, or raise awareness in the hopes that people take care of their pets better! I'm sure this is ongoing, but you could maybe write in to the local paper with an article that simultaneously explains how much work it is (so people might appreciate you guys more) AND how rewarding it is, so that might recruit some people?
