I put the kids alone on a plane yesterday for the first time. Watched them going down the ramp around a corner and gone. I believe that dreams are like warm blankets thrown over your psyche to help you cope with this thing called life. Except sometimes they suffocate you with nightmares. My son tells me he has nightmares every night. He told me one about a giant spider chasing him and devouring pieces of his body as he ran. I just found out another couple we know is getting a divorce. Actually it's parents of our kids friends. I don't think either one of our kids have any friends that aren't divorced, either now single or remarried. I feel as though our nuclear family is fast becoming an endangered species. Whenever I discover a new author I like, I tend to voraciously read all of their works. I also start to think in their style. Right now I've just started reading some short stories by David Foster Wallace. And now I can't stop thinking in highly descriptive, run on, repetative sentences. I'm a reading chameleon.

I've decided that in my next life I want to be a stormchaser. I of course would be fearless in the face of mad eye tornadoes taking notes amidst lightning and gail force winds. There's a woman at my work who is pregnant with her first child so of course all us other Moms have been having conversations about our pregnancies. I'm so excited, we might actually have some snow, well at least some ice on the ground. After 8 years in this town, I've come to look forward to some weather that makes you wear layers.
