Yuffie sat quietly (for once!) outside her room, staring at the other side of the hall and just... sitting. Her hands held her head for a moment and she frowned to herself. She didn't understand, but this was awful. Whatever the feeling was, it made her sick to her stomach, as if she were riding a neverending flight through a dark sky and--"urp!" She really needed to stop thinking about it.

Groaning to herself, Yuffie shifted and pulled her knees up to her chest, arms wrapping around her legs as she rest her forehead on top of them. She might have thought to just go to bed and relax, but there was no way she was going to be able to rest in a room where the television only gave off static and everything looked like it was moving. So there was her decision maker, and the second floor hall was now claimed as her temporary home until further notice.

Or, until this crazy nightmare stopped and she could wake up from it.

...this day was going very, very badly. Now he had injuries to add to his list of complaints. At least he could heal properly for today. Pity it still did nothing for his headache. Neither did it do anything for the demon in the back of his mind, whining (yes, Chaos whine from time to time) to be let out. He had come close to letting Chaos out, but he couldn't; he had managed to force the demon down.

He was so engrossed in his thoughts that he nearly tripped over her. Bumped her, actually. Vincent almost swore before he realised who it was.

"...Yuffie?" Glancing down at her. "...your television set..." his voice trailed off.

He needed to account for all of AVALANCHE and the others from his world. Tseng, Zack, Lucrecia...at least he had found one person.

It was not very ninja-like to miss the footsteps, but to be fair Vincent had always done a good job of going by unheard. Still, the girl almost jumped when his leg bumped her and her gaze shot up toward him -- toward him, but clearly not focused as the first thing she saw was just a giant, half crimson blob of shadow and this time she did jump. Luckily, his features quickly filled in the spaces of that shadowy blob and Yuffie was fast to her feet, resisting every urge to hug him because who knew if he'd shoot her or not. Could he shoot her anymore? No weapons, but this was Vincent and...

No, no, she wasn't going to figure that one out first hand.

After her silent inner battle with herself, Yuffie spared a glance to her room then furiously shook her head. "Don't tell me! They were coming out all over the place, I didn't want to stay in there. Then you weren't in your room," she pointed a finger accusingly, "and so I was stuck all alone out here!" How had she figured this out? By just letting herself into his room earlier, but alas ( ... )

He stepped back apace when she jumped up, relief written all over her face. Was she going to hug him? It looked like she might. He had to take several breaths-- No...hugs. His mind shouted.

Heh.

'Go away, you're not helping.'

Good, she didn't hug. He wasn't quite sure how he would react if she did. Maybe he might accidentally hurt her because he was rather jumpy right now...and he knew how well that would end if it happened.

"...you went in my room?" Oh, right. He hadn't locked it. And even if it were locked, she probably would have found a way to get inside. "Never mind. You haven't encountered anything else besides that, have you?"

He looked a bit baffled, and then remembered the blood on his clothes.

"..." Vincent glanced down; the blood was still red, not yet brown. "A little fight with someone." More like big fight, but she didn't have to know all the details.

She could have laughed; was he actually surprised she'd let herself in? "Huh? Anything else... Are there more things?" She couldn't help but imagine a giant, King Shadow Blob getting ready to eat them all and a shiver ran down her spine. "Gross," she mumbled to herself, her shoulders slumping while she shook her head. "Just those things so far, but I wasn't going to stick around for anything else." She just didn't want to know what would happen if they had gotten a hold of her.

They were made up of nightmares, after all. It was what she had decided.

He obviously wasn't willing to share the details, but Yuffie's worries and determination always got the best of her. "A little fight? Liar," she countered right off the bat, hands moving to rest on her hips in her usual 'you're busted mister!' pose.

"You know I'll find out somehow!"

"I don't know; sometimes. The last time..." His voice trailed off as he shook his head. "The hallway is hardly safe, though." It just felt safer, he supposed. He scanned the hallway; there was a ruckus somewhere, but he felt he shouldn't leave. For now.

Still, Yuffie's curiosity was going to be the death of him. "Yes. A little fight." Oh, not that pose and tone of voice. "You can find out if you want, but it will not be by me." Vincent leant against the wall and looked away from her.

[ ooc: if she wants to poke/jab him, she can do so. XD ]

The last time? He really had a thing for leaving her in suspense. "The hallway is just fine," she grumbled. She was actually very proud of herself for not having tried to bolt from the building entirely, that had to be good for something! "Besides, I'm a big girl! Anything comes at me and I'll tear 'em in two!" Granted, 'anything' coming at her had been the reason she was out here to begin with.

She vaguely remembered talking to that guy about a death deal between himself and Vincent and for a moment Yuffie held her breath. Did she screw that up already? And after telling the guy to trust her- No, Yuffie, don't jump to conclusions, she told herself and the girl slowly moved closer to the gunslinger ( ... )

"No, it isn't. I almost ran into you. What if you were run over by someone else?" He raised an eyebrow. "I doubt you will, Yuffie."

What...are you doing? He nearly stepped back when she slowly advanced on him.

He let out a strangled sound when she starting prodding him, jabbing. Ouch...sore spot there, another one there. "Yuff--"

Breathe. She wasn't a threat, Yuffie was just being Yuffie. He really was far too tense if her proximity was doing this to him. Vincent found one of her arms and grabbed it, hoping his grip wasn't too tight. "I'm. fine." He bit out those words, more out of nervousness than anger.

[ ooc: ^^ o/ because this is all his fault. ]

For a second it sounded as if he might have been worried, but Yuffie took that second and trashed it. No way, she had to stop imagining things.

There, and there, there was another one! Yuffie continued her prodding until that hand closed around her arm and she yelped more out of surprise than anything. An easy grin found its way to her lips and she looked up at him, head tilted just a fraction to the side. "No fight is small when you're the one getting hurt. Can't fool ol' Yuffie here." And she was quite proud of this, and unlike her counterpart here she had no problems with the invasion of personal space.

Obviously.

"You know, everybody's been saying they can do things they used to do back home; want me to try and heal you?" Not that she knew whether she could or not, but she had a test subject now.

( OOC According to her, it's always his fault. XD )

He worried about AVALANCHE. That was it.

You keep telling yourself that, Valentine, and you'll eventually believe it.

Chaos again? He sighed and shook his head.

"It's just bruises," was all he said. And maybe a couple of scrapes...but she didn't have to know. He leant a little back towards the wall, until his head bumped against it and there was something solid behind him.

"It's true. Some of our powers are back," he said softly. A month ago, he would have been glad to have them back. Now he just wished Chaos would stop bothering him. "...you have materia?"

[ occ: usually, it IS his fault. >) ]

"It's just bruises, it's just a scratch, it's just a, it's just a!" Yuffie rolled her eyes, standing firmly in front of him though... well, to be honest, if he wanted her to move he could probably move her himself. Oh the woes of being a light-weight. "Those 'it's just a's can always get worse!" Better to be safe than sorry, they always say.

At the question Yuffie shook her head, eyes downcast at the thought of those dear, beautiful, sweet, lonely-without-their-adoring-ninja orbs. Sucking in a quick breath, she recovered from the spell and brightened once again. "Nah, but I can cure a little! I mean, it's nothing like what Aerith could do..." she still didn't really believe the woman was here and alive, even if Vincent and Cloud both told her. "But it's better than nothing."

She paused briefly, leaning forward a little. "So is that a yes? You know, if I can heal you, you have to tell me what happened!" It sounded like a good deal to her.

( OOC He's such a troublemaker! )

"..." He didn't want to push her away without seeming rude. "...no, they do not." And he is losing this one...

Pity. His own materia was on him, but only as paperweights. Unless one threw them? He decided not to think about that. "Hn." Vincent looked for the moment as if he might agree. Might. He didn't want to let his guard down, not with some of his powers back.

"Er..." And he straightens his shoulders. "I don't know." Bad deal to him.

[ ooc: I know, right? Derping like this...oh Vincent... ]

"Well, maybe not for you, since you're so special." But Yuffie wasn't going to give up so soon! Not when she might have possibly had the upper hand. Maybe. Kind of. Sort of. Probably not if she took a step back and paid attention, but that wasn't her style so she stood rooted to her place and waving her arms to add to the importance of the matter. "But things keep getting weirder and weirder and before you know it you'll be suffering from a tiny cut that turns into an infected tiny cut which then turns into a missing arm!"

For just half a second there was the brief glimmer of hope. Had she finally gotten through to him? Finally, after all these years of trying and poking and prodding and bugging and harassing- "You don't know?" And hopes were dashed in the blink of an eye!

"Fine, then. I hope your arms rot off," she grumbled, crossing her arms sourly and turning her back on him.

( OOC Ahahaha I don't understand why he makes her so angry XD )

"I didn't ask for special treatment." He blurted those words out before thinking about what they meant. And then he shuffled his feet and looked away. "...I'm not going to have a missing arm..."

...

"I don't--"

Too late, she's turned around. Angry.

Since when did you start to care?

'Since when did I not care?' he replied irritably, in his mind. 'I've always cared, even when I didn't want to.'

Does he? Yeah, he does.

Right now, such thoughts aren't helping him. "I'm not...going to die," Vincent finally interjected.

[ ooc: his stubborness? XDD ]

Yuffie didn't answer at first, aside from a loud "hmph!" She could have given him the silent treatment all week, but on second thought he would probably take it as a blessing and that just wouldn't do.

"Nobody can make promises like that," she finally spoke quietly, arms falling to her sides as she thought of Aerith. She might have been young, bratty, and obnoxious but the death of people she cared about hurt just as much as it would anybody else.

Her head turned slightly, just enough to spare him a glance from the corner of her eye.

"Which is why I'm always on the lookout for your safety! You guys are gonna give me white hairs and wrinkles, and then you'll be sorry for making such a pretty girl like me age so quickly!"

( OOC That must be it~ )

He would, sadly. He finally does end up rubbing his temple with a hand and sighing. Arguing wasn't exactly the way he wanted to end this day.

"Maybe I can." Even if he wanted to die, he couldn't. After so many years and not seeing his face change, he had mostly resigned himself to the fact that he couldn't die.

Vincent swallowed carefully while she was speaking. He couldn't raise his voice at the moment; if he did, the raspiness would be audible.

"I doubt you'll have white hairs and wrinkles that quickly, Yuffie," he answered dryly, "It's more often you wear us down."

[ ooc: yep. I play a lot of stubborn people... ]
