[CLOSED] Date + Lady (and later a dying Dante) [(EVENTUALLY) OUTER RESIDENTIAL QUARTER III - 1 AM] getyourgunson May 24 2011, 11:15:43 UTC
[This is Date, now finally coming to the outer perimeters of Death City after having scoured through the inner districts of Shibusen. A final run through there had shown that his partner was nowhere to be found at all, and now all that was left was to go through the outer districts.

The warlord curses to himself as he scurries on, looking around as he runs in order to try and find out where his partner was. He was already away from his zone long enough, he needed to return to it... but before that he was going to run around the other outer areas one more time before returning. And perhaps when he did, Dante would be there as well.]

[Lady's patrol shift had turned into something far more dangerous tonight. Her entire evening has been spent with a gun in one hand, and her other arm sporting a serrated blade along her forearm. There's blood splattering her clothes, though the majority of it isn't hers. She's gotten away with just a scratch or two so far, but that's been mostly from luck and running.]

Shit.

[This is only getting worse as time passes, and she hasn't stayed alive this long without knowing when to run. She's about to do just that, fall back to the city's inner streets, when she spots the man running toward her. She recognizes him; he's a Zone Leader, and Dante's partner.]

Hey! [She shouts as he moves closer, and she begins to move to meet him halfway.] Where's Dante? Shouldn't he be with you?

[Worried? Nah.]

[Date looks over when he hears that voice, and it takes another moment after that to place that face to a name - Lady, although she wasn't supposed to be here. Then again, everything about this current situation wasn't really going well in the first place.]

I'm currently trying to find him. [Said while still running, now step by step with Lady. His voice is terse and rushed, but one can't really blame him.] Have you seen him?

[Hey, she's not that far from her district, but these outer edges of the city were beginning to become to much for her, so she'd been on the move since recently. It was becoming painfully apparent that without a partner, she couldn't do as much as she'd like.]

If I had, I wouldn't be asking you about him. I'd be telling you instead.

[A little snappy, maybe, but can you blame her?]

How the hell did you lose him? [He's pretty hard to miss. She's running side by side with him now.]

[Ah right, of course. Moving on then.]

He was elsewhere slacking off as usual when he was supposed to be working. [It's hard to keep the irritation out of his voice there.] Maybe you could tell him to not constantly slip away from his duties next time.

[She would laugh under better circumstances. As it is, she simply smirks while they run, peering over at him out of the corner of her eye.]

What makes you think he listens to me? [Her tone is incredulous, but amused.] You should know as well as I do that Dante does what he wants. Always.

[It is just something you have to get used to.]

[Date certainly can't refute that - as irritating as it is anyway. Even then, he manages out a sigh.]

It'd make things easier for both of us, at least. [Then again, sometimes the challenge is part of what makes their partnership kind of unique. Its not like with Koujurou, or the brief one he had with Genesis. Its... different, alright.

--but he can think about this later. He glances around again, trying to see if he can spot Dante nearby.] Which area are we in now? I'm not really keeping track.

[Lady just continues to smirk before she shakes her head. There were lots of things Dante could do to make things easier, but she knew better than to expect them.]

[She glanced around briefly at his question, before speaking.] Well, we just left Outer Residential II, and I don't see the Casualty Communal, so this must be the Outer Quarter. [A pause.] The one with two of those weird zones in it.

[She has been slowly but surely learning the city's layout. Patrols have helped, even if she's loathe to admit it.]

[Date frowns as he hears the answer. Outer Quarter... not much here by the way Date remembered, so there's not much of a chance that Dante would be here. Beyond here though would be the zone he was in charge of, so maybe...]

We'll need to get past here as quickly as possible; after this would be where Dante should be, with luck. [He was about to say something else, but just then his senses decide to ring alarm bells in his head and the warlord just barely managed to avoid a blade swinging down from above. Date steadies himself after that unexpected evasion, scowling as he sees that a couple of kishins had decided to go after them. This was just great.]

[Lady has the same thought; it's a long shot, thinking that Dante might have done what he was supposed to and go to his designated zone, but they could hope, right?]

I'll cross my fingers. [Her tone is laced with irritation, mostly at Dante, combined with the situation.

The blade comes seemingly out of nowhere, and Date barely evades, nearly getting his head separated from the rest of his body. The Kishin Egg lands before giving chase, and a glance over her shoulder verifies that it's not the only one chasing.

Well, shit.

She pivots her upper body, holding the gun out sure and steady, and firing a couple of rounds at the nearest Kishin Egg, though they bounce away as the creature deflects them with the long blades protruding from its fingertips.]

[Not a good situation at all, this, especially since Dante isn't with him and this is a kishin they're up against; normal blades weren't going to work much in this situation. Still, Date is forced to draw out one when one of the Kishins lunge at him, swiftly re-directing the blow before he counters with a stab to drive it away. The samurai's trying to put as much distance as he can, but it isn't working so well.]

Shit. [A swear, mainly directed at the situation.] Of course something like this needed to happen now of all times. [Much more grim-faced now, as he glances at the Kishins after them. This was almost like the time out in the desert...]

[She fires another couple shots, only to have the actually ricochet off the fucking thing's skin.]

This isn't fucking working!

[Her tone is laced with irritation and frustration. She's not going to have another choice. He's a Meister, and its going to end up being the only shot they have, since their regular weapons won't do crap.]

Put that sword away. You're gonna need both hands.

[Give Date a moment to respond, he had to duck down to avoid an incoming bullet that had jumped off earlier.]

Wha-- [Would say something else, but then again he knows about the situation and knows that this really isn't a time ti argue.] Alright. [Keeps his katana back, freeing both his hands now as he contiunes to run from the Kishins after them.] You got a plan, then?

Sort of.

[She urges herself to run faster, past him, glancing over her shoulder at the warlord.]

I'm a Weapon. [A beat.] Catch.

[And she transforms in a flash of light. It's suddenly apparent as to why he would need both hands.

She's pretty big. Rocket Launchers usually are.]

[A Weapon--that instantly clicks in Date, though the man barely manages to catch himself in time before the giant rocket launcher lands in his arms. The warlord really needed a moment to look at the weapon; its not entirely unfamiliar to him, he has seen Magoichi use it once or twice before in hos younger days. That was still years ago though, and it had been almost a lifetime since then... who knows if he could be able to operate this thing.

Well, it wasn't like he had an option anyway. Putting a grim smile, Date heaves the thing up to his shoulder, getting his balance before he uses the momentum of his run to turn right around and pull the trigger, releasing one of the explosives towards the kishins after them. The recoil instantly has the man crashing onto the ground, but hopefully the missile does it work well enough.]

[As she feels the man heft her over his shoulder, she subtly guides his aim based on the trajectory of the soul missile. The energy the emerges from the muzzle is blue, like the color of his clothes...and his soul.

Lady feels the energy draining out of her form at the shot, and she quickly works to build it back up. It's slower than when she'd resonated with Roy during their mission, but she thinks its a miracle that this is even working at all. Resonance is not something she practices often, given her dislike for being to close to people.

The explosion works well enough that Date has time to get back to his feet. The Kishin Eggs aren't defeated, but they are wounded, and are slow to begin pursuing again.]
