GROUP 1 ■ NORTH WING ■ xanxus, kasai, yuna & yuuri

[xanxus was tense, sure, but now's not the time for that. he's come from one mission a couple of days before -- and even before that, the recent re-arrival to death city -- so this shouldn't be any different. but he's got that whole caution and instinct wired up in his head that it feels like it's been a while since he was one as big as this. last time was adachi and that door. that went badly, as far as he's concerned.

he should borrow a fag or two from kasai right now, but he's not too tense that he'd stoop to ask the fucking trash. instead, he looks at their team -- the boy he knows from the network, knows that he's been here longer than he is, so he at least knows what he's doing -- and then back to kasai. he's trying to figure out how this'll work. he's not much for pep talks, anyway -- not that this group needed it. finally, he says:]

Two or three to set up the bombs. One to keep an eye out.

[this is one of those things he's not sure he should be doing - helping people out, fighting bad guys, generally working together with people not in his usual social circles - but good god, was he bored. kasai didn't mix well with boredom; it tended to make him restless, and irritable, and eventually all sorts of other unpleasant things, like suicidal. so of course he took the opportunity when it arose, even if it meant working with people. xanxus hadn't seemed all that opposed.

he glances around, cigarette in hand, to make sure there wasn't anything other than the four of them around. then he looks back at the other pair and tries not to make a comment. they were both young to be here, but then again, the median age in death city seemed to be at least ten plus years below him ... ]

I'll take bomb duty. [like he'd ever volunteer to keep watch.]

[To say that the environment is tense is a vast understatement, yet as she turns toward the other pain, she turns to Yuuri and nods before she manages to conjure up a smile.]

We can keep watch if you'd like.

[Her voice is quiet; it wouldn't be good for someone nearby to overhear them, though hopefully the coast would be clear. She could hear the sounds of fighting outside, which means the Strike teams are doing their job.]

[If Yuuri noticed the tense atmosphere, he definitely wasn't letting on. Instead, his expression was set with a sense of cheerful determination, and he was determined to get rid of this factory so that it wouldn't become a future threat to any of his friends. So he followed with his group while keeping an eye out around them.

He didn't know much about bombs, but he could at least offer the others everything that he had. It wasn't as much as it was back home, but he thought that it was better than nothing.]

Sure! We can keep watch.

[Turning his gaze over to Yuna, he smiled brightly.]

If you know anything about setting them up, I can always just keep a look out.

[xanxus shrugs and sets to work with the goddamned trash, which really isn't that bad. at this point, it's probably a good thing that he's working with someone he at least is familiar with. xanxus he splits up the pile with kasai, and sets them up carefully. they were light-cased demolition bombs. xanxus has seen them before, considering how often the mafia decided to renovate the ninth's mansion. he only hoped that they won't be interrupted before demolition time, because he really didn't want to be around when that happens.]

[since xanxus is such a flower of social niceties, it's kasai who turns to the other pair to acknowledge them.]

Works for me - I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume the two of you aren't all that familiar with medium-grade explosives, so if you're not, prove me wrong.

[he makes his way over to where the explosives are, carefully starting to set them up as well. charges they may be, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to go off if something really bad goes wrong. he'd just like to get out of this with all his limbs intact.]

[Yuna looks a little sheepish as she answers.]

Rikku tried to teach me a few things, but it might be better if we leave it to you guys. You seem to know what you're doing.

[She turns to Yuuri, giving him a nod.]

Let's go a bit up the hall. If we hear or see anything, we can double back.

Aaa sorry. [He smiled sheepishly at Kasai's question, and rubbed at the back of his head.]

Okay! [There's an enthusiastic nod in return before he flashes Xanxus and Kasai a grin.] If anything comes, we'll keep them off your back for as long as possible. You can count on us!

[With that said, he glanced at Yuna again with a smile before heading off (with purpose) down the hall.]

Yell or something if you're dying.

[whatever, he doesn't have to be nice, kasai can take care of the rest. squalo's usually his pr man, but since the idiot didn't have a weapon, kasai would have to do.

so he'll be setting up the bombs carefully and keeping an ear out at the same time. after a while, he glares at kasai, because someone has to take the brunt of his anger all the time.]

Don't even think about setting these things off to start your goddamned fire.

[firebrands]

[he's a little too intent on the bombs to notice the departure of the other team, but he does shoot a glare at xanxus for the threat.]

You think I'd set off a bomb when I'm this close to it? Don't be stupid. You're the reckless asshole here, not me.

[he warily finishes attaching one bomb to the wall, setting it up with equal care and attention to detail. he knows time delays. gotta have enough room to get out before you blast your spine right through your ribcage.]

[At Yuuri's glance, Yuna returned his smile with an optimistic one of her own. Their companions for this mission weren't the friendliest, and they didn't seem to really get along, but they seemed capable. As they headed off a ways down the hallway, Yuna knows that she's happy just being able to help out.]

Hopefully this won't take too long and we can head back to regroup with everyone else soon.

[That's the goal after all; get in, get out before anyone notices, and then blow the place up. It reminds her of Rikku, strangely enough.]

Okay!

[Yuuri waved and called down the hallway to Xanxus' show of concern. He may have looked and sounded like an unhappy person, but Yuuri felt as though it was similar to Gwendal.

Stopping when he made it to the end of the hall, he was on high alert for anything suspicious.]

They sound like they know what they're doing, so it probably won't take long.

[Just as Yuna and Yuuri make it down to the end of the hall, they'll be able to catch sight of a shadowed figure down the far end.

There are two antennae-like protrusions from the silhouette's head, and the figure appears to be young while she's half-skipping her way down.]

[xanxus will be too busy setting up le bombs and keeping an eye on his surroundings, and kasai himself. he knows the old man won't fuck up -- he likes to live too much to consider making this thing a suicide mission -- but hey. trust no players, fear no bitch.

he just hopes the brat and his partner will know what they're doing and what to keep an eye for.]

[kasai finishes up with his bombs after a short while, since the key here is to move fast so they don't get caught, and stands up with a sigh to grind out his cigarette - fully, and well away from the bombs - against the floor.]

Sorta wish we could stick around to see the damage these do, but ... [he sighs and reaches for another cigarette.] You almost done?

[Yuna slows her steps as she sees the approaching figure, probably not on her best guard when she sees that its what appears to be a young girl.]

Yuuri...

[She says his name quietly under her breath, to make sure he notices as well. It's hard to see the child as an enemy, so she wonders if perhaps she's a prisoner here.]
