[Raidou watches him eat the souls, a puzzled frown crossing his face. He had dismissed the incident in Liechtenstein, but Alucard had once again spotted the Kishin Eggs before they got anywhere in their line of sight. Obviously the Weapon has some way of sensing them - so why didn't he tell Raidou?

However, this is not the time for questions. It's an all-out war out here, with more and more Kishin Eggs appearing and the madness wavelength causing chaos. They would have to focus on the situation at hand.]

Can you tell whether there are more of them around?

[Even Raidou, with his regular human senses, can tell something is coming. The feeling of disorientation caused by the Madness wavelenght is growing stronger. He shakes his head, trying to clear it.

If it had crossed his mind to look down, he would have noticed the vector arrows creeping across the ground beneath their feet.]

[Raidou reacts without thinking, diving out of the way. The vector arrows begin to merge, first into a shapeless mass, then slowly into a humanoid figure. The creature takes shape before their eyes and faces them with a sinister grin.

Keeping his eyes on what he can only assume to be a Kishin Egg, Raidou summons Alucard back to his side and reaches for his hand.]

Let's go.

[The monster seems to be waiting, not appearing particularly threatened. Raidou goes for the offensive.

It takes him less than a minute to realize that something is off. Their attacks have little effect on the enemy. What little blood they do manage to draw solidifies into needles that shoot out to attack him; he has to back-dash out of the way to avoid being skewered.

Even more concerning, though, is that he finds himself having to concentrate to keep their resonance strong. He wonders, briefly, whether it's the Madness wavelength interfering - but that doesn't feel right, either. It's like there is a nagging feeling in the back of his head that disrupts their resonance and refuses to go away, and he has no idea why.

It takes all of his focus to avoid another rain of vector arrows, fight the madness, and maintain their resonance at the same time.]

[A sharp cry escapes his throat as the attack hits his right arm with a sickening crack and knocks Alucard out of his grip.]

Alucard-san! [He stumbles away from the Kishin Egg and tries to focus, to summon his partner back - but without Alucard's presence acting as an anchor, the Madness suddenly seems far worse. He can't tell where he is - what's going on - why is there so much blood - the voices --

...shameful...

What...?

Louder and louder still, until he could hear nothing else...

It was a grave error for you to assume the mantle of the 14th Raidou Kuzunoha...

Stop! [Raidou covers his ears, ignoring the throbbing pain in his right arm, trying to block out the voices. He never sees the attack coming, doesn't have a chance to fight back before

[Raidou doesn't quite realize he's being carried; the hallucinations blend together with reality until he can no longer tell them apart. Then he draws a shuddering breath and tries, once again, to regain his senses. Alucard is real. Focus on that.]

Forgive me. I was too careless. [His voice is shakier than usual. The warm stickiness on the side of his head tells him he must have hit his head when he was slammed against the rock.]

[The scream tears through the madness and Raidou jerks out of his stupor as though splashed with icy water.]

Alucard-san!

[No no no, this wasn't supposed to happen, how could he have allowed his partner get hurt--]

I'm fine. [But you are not.]

...You can put me down. I can walk. [His head is clear enough, hopefully, that he can start supporting Alucard. He hates being a burden when he's the one supposed to be keeping them both safe.]
