[How unusual is it to see a demon shoot things with modern guns? Not very much once you get used to Aion frequenting the shooting range. Today something seems to be wrong, though, as he keeps altering between making okay hits and not hitting the target at all and also shifts his stance and stops to fiddle with and inspect his weapon a lot.]

[Hanabi's passing the shooting range to find a target to throw shuriken at when she spots Aion.]

Good morning.

[He turns at the familiar voice and flashes her a quick smile as a greeting.]

Little miss Hanabi. Good morning to you too. Are you here to train your resonance with yourself again?

[Hanabi pulls the set of shuriken she brought with her out of her coat pocket.]

Actually, today I'm here to work on my shuriken throwing skills...I thought if people are shooting at targets that it would be all right to find a target to throw these at.

[They're Watch issued.]

My father would be disappointed if I slacked off on any part of my training.

I see. [He nods, giving the shuriken a curious glance. So these were weapons? They don't look like they could do much damage unless you got them in the face.]

I have been trying to improve on my skills as a shooter, but somehow it looks as if my form's a bit under the weather. I think the targets you are looking for are further down over there.

Well, practice is the best way to improve, right?

[Her tone is encouraging. Although there are some who have natural talent, that natural talent can go to waste if someone doesn't work. And then there are people like her cousin's teammate Lee who have gotten where they are through sheer hard work and determination.]

Would you like to practice with your Weapon form sometime today?

One should certainly think so. [He agreed, just to raise an eyebrow at the proposal.]

Would you like to fight with or against me?

With you.

[Hanabi's not sure how they could even fight properly otherwise if he was in his Weapon form. Now that she could control her Meister ability, she did feel all right with the idea of sparring with others who didn't possess the same ability.]

We can practice here at the shooting range if you want.

I would not mind that. [His polite words is ruined by his boyish tone.

Nodding towards the targets, he adds] Ladies first. Choose whatever you like.

[Hanabi doesn't have a gun, so she readies one of her shuriken, taking careful aim at the target before throwing it. It doesn't hit the bullseye, but it's less than an inch away.]

Did you want to transform so I can practice with you that way, too?

[He takes his time to take aim and shoot before he answers, landing a hit about 6 cms more off the mark than hers. Tsk'ing, he tries again and hits the bullseye this time.]

I don't particularly care, to be honest. [He gives her a good-natured shrug to show that he doesn't mean it bad.] Training both forms seems like a good idea, but I can always ask my brother if I really feel like it. Let's go with what you are comfortable for now.

[She withdraws one of her kunai from her pouch. The weapons are weighted differently, and wielded differently as well. But since they can be used as thrown weapons, it's best to practice that and ensure that she keeps her skills sharp. Her father would be disappointed if she let herself slack off on any aspect of her training.]

All right. Would you mind showing me the correct way to use a gun?

Not at all.

[He put the safety on and offered it to her.]

If you don't mind that my knowledge of them is a bit outdated. The guns I learned to use are from over a century ago.

I don't mind. Learning it is still helpful.

[Especially if they decided to partner up one day.

She takes the offered weapon, feeling the weight of it in her small hands before trying to mimic Aion's body language when he took aim at the target.]

[He gives her a small pleased look and then points towards the safety he just turned on.]

The thing I just moved was the safety catch - it's meant to make sure that you don't accidentally fire the weapon when you don't mean to. They're very useful and come in different shapes depending on the model you use, though I'd advise you to always be careful even if they are on since there is no guarantee that they won't fail from time to time. It happens rarely, though. If you want to shoot you will have to do this first. [He demonstrates how to undo it before stepping back.]

The rest is actually really easy. You take aim, pull the trigger and the bullet comes out of the barrel and hits the target. Try it while holding it with both hands for the beginning, since there is some recoil.

[Hanabi is very careful in following Aion's instructions. She undoes the safety on the gun, and takes aim at the target, holding the weapon with both hands and planting her feet firmly into the ground in case the recoil is more than she's anticipating. It's not the same as throwing a kunai or a shuriken, but when she finally fires the gun, she does manage to hit a spot on the target. It's not a lethal place, and it's not what she was aiming for. Still, it's better than missing entirely.]
