Morning Training happens every day in the city, and most days get handwaved. Once a month a log goes up to play out interactions and teaching. It happens from 6 am to 9 am, and this time it's happening December 31st, in-game.

[How unusual is it to see a demon shoot things with modern guns? Not very much once you get used to Aion frequenting the shooting range. Today something seems to be wrong, though, as he keeps altering between making okay hits and not hitting the target at all and also shifts his stance and stops to fiddle with and inspect his weapon a lot.]

[When she takes her first try and hits Aion makes an encouraging 'whoop', patting her on the back in a way of gratulation.]

Bingo! Seems like you're a natural!

[Hanabi is sincerely confused by the encouragement. Her father would never have congratulated her for aim like that.]

But I didn't even hit somewhere that would kill the target...

So? Hitting to kill is easy. You got him at a good place that would keep them from fighting back much yet ensures that they could be questioned later on. It was a very good shot for a first try.

[Unlike some ninjas Aion believes in camaraderie and gentle but firm teaching while training.] Try and relax your shoulders a bit more for the next one.

[That brings a slight smile to Hanabi's face. The serious young girl isn't one to smile often, usually walking around with a calm poker-face.]

[She takes a deep, slow breath before her next try. Her clan's fighting style involves fluid motion, so she understands the importance of relaxing her shoulders. It's something Neji has instructed her to do before.]

[He flashes her an encouraging smile and gentle touches one of her shoulders to show that she should raise the weapon a bit more in that direction.]

It's good to see all sides of the game, not only your own hand. Even a miss can turn into a valuable first step for a new strategy - the challenge with it is only to learn how to react fast enough to it.

[Hanabi nods at that and recalls observing the chuunin exams finals with her father momentarily. Real-time strategy was important. Relying on one technique - even an ultimate technique - was dangerous.

She raises the weapon a little more and makes sure she's got a clear view of the target before firing. This time, it goes into the chest area of the target - a shot that would hit the right lung. Still not what Hanabi was aiming for, though. She had been aiming for the heart.]

]Watching her 'kill' the target this time, he lets out a low whistle.]

You don't like doing less than perfect, huh? Good shot.

[The look Hanabi gives Aion is almost sheepish when he calls her on her perfectionist streak.]

[Although she gets the meaning of Aion's joke, Hanabi doesn't laugh. She's not one for laughing very often, and the last time she laughed here was in the privacy of her own room after seeing Tenten with an Excalibur nose.

She watches as he fires the bullets into the target.]

If the target wasn't dead before, it sure is now.

[He clicks his tongue at the last failed shot and lowers the gun.]

Most definitely, but that is what a practice target is there for.

[The behavior catches Vash's attention.]

Hey, is something the matter with your weapon?

[He frowns, looking the tiniest bit sheepish.]

It doesn't look like it, but I don't really have a good idea how to tell with those modern weapons.

[Actually, it are his eyes that are messing with his aim. Lack of sleep and a previous injury to them are a bad combination if you want to sharp-shooting.]

They're pretty finicky, actually.

[Vash looks at the gun Aion's holding, then up at it's owner.]

If it starts giving you too much trouble, you might want to let it cool down and give it a good cleaning. What kind of weapon are you used to?

The Pandaemonuim-brand ones. [He gives the gun a last look as if to say 'I blame you, gun' and then puts it down for now.] It's difficult to explain them with terms of human technology, but you can imagine them like upgraded swords and physical skills. I'm still learning the ropes with how to use things like modern firearms.
