Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS. Where: En route to Casualty Communal Rating: Gen Time: January 9 onwards [forward dated] Description: Whoa, it’s been a while!
Kanji didn't know, but it didn't mean he'd stop poking the crap out of the little mirror as he turned a corner in the city proper. Trying one's cell phone turned up pointless when the BREW didn't, he didn't know, zap it here with him when he arrived. Okay, that's how you turn it on, and that's how you change the settings...
Skulls. Pumpkins. More skulls. He'd find a layout he liked eventually, damn it...
There were a number of new arrivals and people to consider for their field team, but she wasn't sure. Perhaps she was just too suspicious of people, but wasn't it better to be safe than sorry? That was the correct saying, right?
Now wasn't exactly the time to ponder this; she really should be paying attention to where she was going, but planning couldn't wait. Or, it shouldn't wait. She was buried in making notes in her handbook that she accidentally bumped into someone.
"Pardon m--." Naoto had only raised her head for a fraction of a second to address the person she had run into when she had to double take. Her eyes widened, "Ah, Kanji-kun?"
Hahaha, nice, he was getting to the animals now. Come on, come on, where were they, they had to be there--
An impact. He wasn't paying too much attention, himself, but he was used to people giving him a rather wide berth. His lifted his eyes from the communicator's 'screen'.
"Tch, watch where the hell you're--" The words died on his tongue along with any bite behind them, and his face immediately stung with a mix of shame and something familiar.
"Just arrived I take it? You should be more careful with your attitude. Only a few people will calmly move on if you respond in such a hostile manner."
She adjusted her cap, raising an eyebrow. Just what was he doing with his communicator?
"In answer to your question, I'm here for the same reason everyone else is: to assist Shibusen in this War."
Kanji just made a face, but nodded in reply. He knows he probably shouldn't be like that, but getting pulled into an unfamiliar area in a sea of eccentric strangers did not help the mood any.
"Yeah. Went home after Souji-senpai got on the train, woke up here. Details're all fuzzy in the middle." He scratched his head. He remembered the stairs, the darkness.
"So... which are you?" Can't blame him for being curious. Everyone here was one or the other, right?
True, she shouldn't be surprised with your response. Still, best to handle arriving in a new place with a level head... or at least, that's what Naoto believes.
"Hm... we're from the same time then..." Naoto clearly recalled Souji boarding the train and leaving for the city with his stay over.
"Hm? Oh, I'm a Weapon. A Demon Gunblade to be exact."
Same... time? Kanji isn't exactly sure what she means, and figures now might not be the time to ask lest he get himself confused further.
"Cool. So how does that work, ya just... think about it and it happens, you change?" That left him wondering if that's how Soul Resonance works, though he would probably get the 411 on that during a practice session (at ass o'clock in the morning, ugh).
"Yeah. They had some weird-ass x-ray machine all set up with that creepy bolt-head dude, too. I had a scanner pointed at me and it said I was a Meister," he answered with a nod.
"Heh, so I guess if you need a hand and don't mind a newbie wielder..." He let it trail and gave a little salute. He remembered his communicator, then, and tried to press it a couple more times to shut it off while the 'desktop background' of sorts appeared to be covered in kittens. He could always find the penguin style later.
"Stein-sensei... I'm surprised I didn't see you considering I was assisting with the X-Rays." She paused. A Meister, hm? Interesting... but it made sense in a way.
"... I have a Meister already, but if you would like to fulfill a mission or train together, I'm willing to lend you a hand." Don't think she missed that; of course, she's not going to comment on the kittens.
"Oh, yeah? I guess I was pretty busy tryin' not to look at the thing. Or Stein-sensei. I think I was kind of an ass to the guy that scanned me, though. Anybody give you trouble?" There were a lot of awkward faces there, so he can't have been the only slightly difficult one.
"If it's okay with whoever you partnered with, that's cool by me. It's probably easier to practice with people you know." Hey man, the kittens are temporary!
"Thinkin' about it... who else is here from home?"
"You'll get use to him. He's our main teacher at school." Which she might have to drag you to class. "Trouble? No. Most of the people I worked with today were cooperative."
"My partner has problems when it comes to getting out of bed; he shouldn't mind, but I'll ask in case." Naoto couldn't see Minato saying 'no' really.
"... Dojima-san, Yosuke-senpai, and Souji-senpai. There were more of us, but BREW sent them home."
Was it a requirement to be out of your mind to acquire a teaching degree? Kanji was starting to see a distressing trend. With the following answer, however, Kanji shook his head in bewilderment. Now he had about half a million questions.
"Huh? Dojima-san!? ...What about Nanako-chan? Does that mean she's home by herself again?" Not that he'd want BREW to get a small child involved in anything like this, as god knows the girl's been through enough, but...
"Yes and no. She was here for some time, but she's safer back home. I never had a chance to ask what the date was for her..." Naoto shook her head, "Still, Nanako-chan shouldn't be here to bear witness to what's going to happen. On that note, there's something you need to know, Kanji-kun."
There was a time for light-hearted seriousness, but this wasn't it. Naoto's eyes narrowed and she was taking a chance look around, making sure they weren't being overheard.
He was starting to catch on a little. 'Same time', 'what the date was'... Kanji will try and figure that out on his own later, perhaps.
For now, when Naoto stopped and took a look around, he took a minute to look for any eavesdroppers as well. Two pairs of eyes were better than one, right? There were people milling about up and down the sidewalks, but nobody close enough to be within earshot.

She doesn't know exactly how many details he wants, though... "What about yourself, Kanji-kun? You had your soul read, correct?"

"O-okay. What's up, Naoto-kun?"
