It becomes a little more evident something's amiss when he turns to go back and gets to the first few flaming wreckages.
He's not even sure what they were, but they're quite thoroughly destroyed. There's a chill going right up his spine as he looks around, because whatever this was it certainly can't be natural; for a moment he contemplates going right back the way he came, but it would take much longer that way. Not practical, nor likely very safe.
Nevertheless, it's only after he's found a decent length of metal pipe that Allen begins skirting his way around the edge of the mess, hoping against hope to make his way back before he encounters the threat.]

Time to time, Ryoki stopped, though, to watch the flames. He eventually also set other things on fire without really using explosives - just take a stick and use it as a torch, really - and that's what he is currently doing to a trashcan.
At the sounds of the footsteps, his attention turns away from the fire to look at whoever it is, but he doesn't move from his place]

Concerned, he lowers his weapon and steps carefully forward, avoiding flames and smoldering remains.]
Pardon me... Are you all right? What happened...?
[Even as he speaks, trying to do so quietly so as not to startle the other boy, he spots the torch and what it's doing and in an instant his guard is back up -- though he doesn't attack, simply takes a defensive stance.]

It all burned down. Too slow. Not enough, though. [yes, yes, he was making perfect sense. Ryoki is out of it]
Reply
Well, the wreckage might have been a clue -- but the wreckage didn't set every hair tingling on the back of his neck.]
You did this? [His voice is harder now, though he doesn't raise it. Considering the destruction, he's not sure he wants to provoke him.]

And then Ryoki's eyes set on the pipe. And Ryoki's grip on his torch almost makes his hands hurt and that soreness he is feeling pretty much tells him what to do next.
The half bull suddenly raised it and, using the torch as a bat, he swung it to hit Allen]

His body registers Ryoki's movement before his mind does -- he's already moving by the time the parry's required, swatting the torch aside just in time. At the same time -- he has to grit his teeth to turn the strike.
Strong and fast: he was right. This isn't a fight he wanted to start -- not when he hasn't had a chance to train regularly in quite a while.
Still, he doesn't press ahead to attack, falling back again into a defensive stance and warily eyeing his opponent.]
I don't know what you're trying to do, but I'm not here to fight you. Please let me pass.
[He will alert someone if he can find someone appropriate, of course, provided he can get away -- but trying to stop an armed and unknown quantity like this isn't something Allen's going to rush into.]

[Hand moves again, the torch trying to hit Allen once more. This time Ryoki goes further, though, because he rushes front as he attacks, hoping to make use of his free fist if he didn't manage to hit with the torch]

It's easier said than done, because the other party is kind of wielding a flaming weapon and is also aggressive and versatile; distracted by trying to keep the fire away, Allen sees the punch a split-second too late.
He can only do his best to use their locked weapons as leverage, turning his pipe to try to push himself away and soften the impact.
As a result, he's sent staggering backwards several steps, gasping but not falling.]

Like a bull, he just rushes into the fight.
Which he does right about now. When he notices Allen staggering, Ryoki advances yet again, to attack him with a kick, this time]
Reply
Thus, unless Ryoki does something other than flail wildly about, he isn't going to get very far. Because now that he's realized his opponent will be attacking with anything he has, Allen is carefully watching all his movements.
He drops to the ground and uses his pipe to redirect the kick, trying to knock his opponent off-balance.]
Reply
[he looks behind, getting up after, and once more rushes towards his opponent, this time using the torch as a bat]

Only things can't ever be quite that simple, can they? The sheer force of the swing actually splinters the torch against the battered metal of the pipe -- the durability of his own weapon working against him.]
Ah...
[Flaming bits of the torch propelled by the impact burn his hands and he nearly drops the pipe -- tightens his grip with gritted teeth at the last second.
At this point, he notices that other bits have landed on his clothes and his jacket, at least, is starting to smolder ominously.
The other problem? He hasn't been watching his surroundings, and he's just about backed up against one of the wreckages. Oops.]
Reply
With a victorious grunt after noticing that Allen had just burned his hand, Ryoki strikes again, almost madly, and not planning on stopping]

He doesn't have any room to retreat and defend anymore.
At the same time, his opponent has redoubled his attacks and his own capabilities have been weakened thanks to the burns and fatigue. That he's no match is entirely his own fault. It doesn't help that the torch keeps hemorrhaging red-hot splinters.
That doesn't mean he's giving up. Allen sets his teeth against the throbbing in his hands and does his best to turn the strikes -- tries to press Ryoki back before he gets forced into the fire. It's not working so well because it would rely on brute strength, which... yeah.
His final, desperate resort is a kick of his own aimed at the midriff; at the same time, he relaxes the arms that have been holding the torch off with the pipe -- with any luck, that will force his opponent off-balance enough for the gamble to work.]
