[The device connects to Ken's but for the longest time there's nothing but the most horrific static -- sounds of breaking waves and the occasional seabird, too.
Umi's reply comes only after a deep breath, and even then her voice is soft and exhausted.]
... hey. I was just wanting to tell you I'm sorry for the other night, but we did what we had to do to keep you from doing anything you might really regret.

[She hesitates for the longest time before replying to Ken's message. Memories from the curse have been both embarrassing and angering her beyond belief ever since she regained her senses.
Waking up at Ken's and Aya's place didn't add to it, oddly, but instead helped calm her down. They're the only two guys she spoke to during the curse she didn't feel absolutely incapable of facing. And it reminded her of how she can always count on them. Of why she refuses to imagine what this place would be like without them.
But still... the fact they had to do this because of how incapable of fighting against the curse she was is a burden that won't let her meet them for a couple more days.
So instead of saying any of the grateful words she knows she'll have for them when she gets over this, she just calls back to say, very softly and in a tone that suggests she'll add nothing more for now:]

I just wanted to ask, since you have brought it up before, will it be okay to borrow a sword from Reed-san's shop?

[There's a rather long pause here. It could be she's gathering her wits or checking the Network or both at once.]
Got it. One of those cases, huh? Thanks for the heads-up, Ken.
