My tip? I would recommend a single-board laminate, that can be installed as a tongue-in-groove floating floor, instead of one that comes in "sheets" (usually 3 boards wide)- it looks much more real-

You can get a pretty cheap underlayment (Damp Proof Membrane) - ours was called "Silent Step" or something like that. It protects the floor underneath, if you are concerned about seepage - and keeps the floating floor from creaking when you walk on it.
