Comment with any ship (romantic or platonic or maybe even non-existent!) from a fandom that you know I have some knowledge about, and I will rant about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on your ship of choice.

I will try to keep the disgust to a minimum.

Morgana/Merlin.

Hm. Morgana/Merlin is actually a ship I don't especially care for, at least outside of a Gwen/Morgana/Merlin/Arthur square. Morgana and Merlin on their own make sense in some ways, but most of those ways are based around their shared experience of magic and awareness of destiny, which means I'm almost certain to dislike most of their major moments because I really don't like when this show gets its srsbzns Destiny on. Destiny as an all-consuming force is a trope that I hate in general, and really, this show is not a deeply profound retelling of the myths or a grandiose and sweeping epic, and I hate when it tries to pretend it is. I AM HERE FOR THESE KIDS AND THEIR FACES DOOFING ABOUT.

So, um. From what I have seen, they are an angsty ship, and I don't like the way the show handles angst. It's a personal preference thing, though.

Firefly: Zoe/Wash.

Their arguments annoyed me. Now that that's off my chest:

LOVE LOVE LOVE. No, really, I love how much respect and fondness and trust they had for each other whenever they weren't the focus of the episode. I (while it lasted) loved that Wash wasn't insecure about her strength. I loved that Zoe could be the tough strong warrior woman and still make soup and get laid. I loved their friendly, comfortable banter together and how at home they seemed around each other. I loved that Wash gets hit on by a professional seductress and goes, "Thank you, you're cute and I'm flattered, but I have a wife, LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HOW GREAT SHE IS BECAUSE SHE IS THE GREATEST." I love how open Zoe is about being both in love with her husband and turned on by his wits. I love the existence of the line "Sir, I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off." I love the damn dinosaurs. Basically, love in general.

Glee: Klaine.

Hmm. I've been sort of grouchy about Glee lately, and I've actually missed the last three episodes (along with several others with Klaine development, most notably BIOTA - actually, I've missed a lot of the second season) so I'm not the best informed. That said, I think that they're pretty adorable together and that they weren't built up at all badly, and I love the fact that they exist, that a hugely-watched and widely-popular show has a gay couple as one of their biggest things. The show does not lack for problems, but on the other hand my little brother went from being quite grossed out at the idea of queer couples to sitting on the couch and pouting because he didn't want Kurt to break up with Blaine (after the preview for Rumours, this was) and that increased acceptance did not come out of the sky. So. I am pleased that they exist.

I... actually really don't like this one at all, for two reasons of varying rationality.

1) The whole thing has certain overtones of teacher/student, to me, particularly in the scene where he was showing her around the Penrose Steps, but really every scene they have together places him as the one explaining something to her. The only exception is that tiny snippet by the river at the end, and even then, he's still taking responsibility for her well-being (handing her the oxygen and everything). And unlike Cobb, who also protects her and teaches her, there's no balance; she doesn't ever exert any real power over him. This wouldn't be such a big deal except that teacher/student is one of my biggest squicks ever.

2) Okay, so, he has a certain authority over her. That comes from his greater knowledge of the dreamscape. And then he abuses that to trick her into kissing him. Dick move there, Arthur.I love them as friends, and for some reason inserting Eames for an OT3 dynamic kills the teacher/student DNW entirely, but I just... don't ( ... )

I can totally understand why others ship them, I hasten to add, and if it were balanced out a bit then it could be really great.

Hmm. They don't hit all my OTP/write-all-the-fic buttons in the way that some things do, but they're definitely a ship that I would read and enjoy and like to watch. I think that they care a lot about each other; I think that Baby Doll brought Rocket a lot of hope that she desperately wanted, and that Rocket is very much impressed with Baby Doll and at a stage that would be starry-eyed if she didn't also see an underlying vulnerability - and what's great there is that this doesn't take away from Rocket's view of Baby Doll as strong and powerful and amazing, it just undercuts any potential hero-worship. So there's a mixed admiration with an appreciation that Baby is only human. As to Baby Doll's feelings about Rocket, I think Rocket is one of the first people to look at her as impressive and powerful; she's someone who listens to Baby and trusts her, and that's amazing. And along with her belief is her kindness - also such a rare thing in Baby Doll's life - and her welcoming nature and the fact that she's managed to hold onto that ( ... )

I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM OH GOD. tbh i ship ot3 more than anything because a) rocket wants to marry baby doll and have a house with a white picket fence and cats, b) sweet pea and baby doll's relationship arc is a GORGEOUS THING THAT IS GORGEOUS, and c) SISTERFEELINGS. the end. :|b

rocket wants to marry baby doll and have a house with a white picket fence and cats

You have just identified a) the absolute and entire and adorable truth and b) the reason I do not ship them in proportion to their cuteness. Note to self: deal with this picket-fence allergy.

And incest is not my particular cup of tea, but ALL FRENS ALWAYS FOR SURE.

(As regards 5ive Girls, I am getting that impression but I don't know how well I'll do with horror, soo...)
