I am not kidding. I haven't practiced that approach myself but I know a girl who is madly in love with a guy who beat the daylights out of her (several times) and whose view on him had not changed

I am afraid this is a naive view. As far as I know about women in societies where abuse is routine, the men are not "loved". At best, they are used as tools in power-play between women. One such power-play move is to add importance to one's existence by showing better reverence for one's idol than competitors do.

As in: "it could be worse, I could have no husband" (c)
