I always think that if I won the lottery I would give half to charity but I wonder if I really would. Of course the taxes would be insane and I wouldn't look for loopholes like some rich people. It's interesting to think about! :)

Well the donations would help with taxes! I’d still write that stuff off in a heartbeat. The billionaires dodging taxes are not using good charities to do it, they’re using our huge obvious system that taxes sales and incomes instead of giant piles of corporate shares.

As someone who won $10K in the lottery once (we had 5 out of 6 numbers), I will say that it's fun to play on occasion, as long as you don't let it dominate your life. We were extra responsible and used our winnings to pay off a credit card. Not super fun, but it lowered our debt-to-income ratio enough that we were able to buy a house later that year.

Yes! Same as the billboard - it taunts people with an easy fantasy, all the time. It isn’t right.

I don't know what it says about me that my sole and immediate response is to push up my glasses and go "well, you're gonna want to start a PAC, because as an individual you can only give like $2400 to each candidate"
