I'm considering moving all of my fanfiction (except for the really old pre-2001 stuff) to archiveofourown.org based purely on the fact that I'm tired of having all my stuff scattered across the Internet. Turtlecest holds most of my embarrassing tmnt fic that isn't posted elsewhere (which isn't as embarrassing in light of the fact that ao3 has a ( Read more... )

I've moved to Ao3 as well, so I've really got nothing but positive stuff to say. I wish some of their scripts were a bit easier to use (and that there was a way of sorting bookmarked favorites), but I really like the kudos button as well as the ability to DL pdfs of stories straight to my computer. So... *hands* pros and cons, we gots them.

... we can download pdfs? o_o *goes off to save all her favorite stories ever*

Apparently we'll be able to bookmark our favorite authors soon. :D

I like the interface that AO3 has, and I like the tags... as a reader I don't like that you can't subscribe for updates to a fic like you can on the pit of voles.
As an author I kind of hate the AO3 kudos button. It's worse than the like button on facebook. Readers cheep out, so unless a writer is involved in a certain challenge or writing organization (ie, Yuletide) there's no real sense of community.

But as an Archive it's definitely my favorite service.

I completely forgot what the pit of voles was again. FF.net? XD

There is a subscribe button on AO3, I'm subscribed to like 10 fics. o_o Maybe it's a new thing?

I get what you're saying about the kudos button. I'd rather have it than nothing though, on FF.net you have like 500 people reading your fic and like no feedback at all. D:

:) You have so many fics up there it surprises me. I didn't know you wrote that much!

Lol yeah.... And that's not even all of it. XD I wrote a lot through the end of my shitty marriage and it kinda stuck.

I don't think I've ever done a hits to comments comparison for AO3 vs ff.net, it just seems like I get more comments over there sometimes?

Oh yes, I don't intend to move anything. Whatever is here is here, probably to stay.

I have my fics backed up to a messy USB drive too and said USB drive pretty much comes with me everywhere. <3 It's the best way to carry fics I must admit.

Sorry I missed you night before last. I pretty much passed out at the computer and was dead to the world.

If you wanna move it all, do it. FF.net isn't an ideal place for a lot of fiction, and it's just plain convenient having it all in one spot. That said, moving it will take awhile. Don't stress yourself out moving it all at once.

No worries at all!

FF.net makes me sad. Back 10 years ago it was the best site for fanfiction on the internet and it's just... bleh now.

Yeah, I think I will. Moving stuff will take a while, that is for sure. -_- I expect somewhere around next December. ;)

Yup! Some kind soul gave me an invite, probably the last available one.

I will start the move soon. ^^
