I Live around the Block from Donald Trump. Yay!

I'd say six months since the last post is a record, but I doubt it actually is. What can I say, I'm as bad at time management as ever. And, as hard as it is to believe, my cute little joey is *two* now. What ever happened to the cute little bald thing that giggled like mad and crawled around on her baby legs? The giggling is still there, sure, but ( Read more... )

hehe, that video is completely awesome!

As for the rest it pretty much sums up why every time you say that we should move to California I cringe. Though I do like the idea of the virgin mother moose with stigmata.

::hugs:: mom says "hi!"

Yeah, that video rules. It's a shame that most of the other ones I've found in the "Literal Video" genre after it just don't seem to be as good. (Although the guy who made this one did a pretty nice take on a Meatloaf song.)

I think pretty much the key to living here is remembering that in California the part of the "American Dream" that involves busting your ass for thirty years to own a house is a ridiculous sham. (People don't "own" real rstate here, they bet on it, and I hate betting when the stakes are any higher then $5 blackjack tables.) I've resigned myself to the idea that life here involves saving as much money as possible in other investment vehicles and jumping ship to somewhere more sane when appropriate.

Not to say we don't like it here. Given how the state economy and budget is cratering I hope the "jumping ship" part doesn't come sooner then later. :^b

Ugh, tell me about it. I've technically been an employee of the State of California for the last year and a half, and now that I'm actually paying a bit more attention to the state legislature it's amazing just how fucked up a state it's in.

I really want to know who thought it was a great idea to let the random masses put forth budget propositions, especially when I imagine most people don't have any idea what you're asking except "omg moar taxes?! NO"

In the 1928 edition of a US Army training manual "Democracy" was defined as so:

"A government of the masses. Authority is derived through mass meeting or any other form of direct expression. Results in mobocracy, attitude toward property is communistic - negating property rights."

"Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether it be based on deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequence. Results in demagogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy."Sounds a lot like California, doesn't it? It's amazing how prescient the Founding Fathers of the US were in adopting the "Representative Republic" model rather then a straight democracy, which is essentially what California is thanks to some not-so-bright late 19th century "Progressive ( ... )
