Day 59 of the poem-a-day-for-70-days project--so far so good. Not that all of them are winners, but there are some good ones, I think ("if I do say so meself AS 'oo shouldn't"), and I'm finding out some amazing things about the grandmother who never liked me.

Romanadvoratnalunda, a.k.a. Romana, time princess in the guise of cat and dedicated harrasser of all creatures great and small, today celebrated her 18th birthday. She enjoyed bacon, meanders through the herb garden and nibbles of catnip on the stem, remnants of meatloaf, and long naps, with plentiful scratching, petting, and backrubs upon demand. The local news media have been having a field day with this one: there's road construction around Green Lake, WI. (Surprise!) Traffic has been rerouted. We were coming out of a restaurant the other morning when I noticed a bumper sticker on a large SUV that made me laugh and laugh and laugh: it said "Pres. George W. Bush: Aren't we lucky?"

Then I looked at the other stickers on the car, saw they were all Bush/Cheney campaign stickers, and realized this person was actually serious!

That's because I picked up something else saying that people should eat lots of fish. Good for 'em. Brain food.

The people who say this never seem to notice the irony that the mercury in the fish will attack the brain.

We do not tread lightly upon Mother Earth.
