“Funeral Blues” was written by W.H. Auden as a modern elegy. I personally really enjoyed this poem and its simplistic nature. The raw feelings of grief are refreshing and are easy to identify with. Nonsense poetry, as explained in lecture, disregards the idea of sense. This is often a characteristic that I find in most fantasy novels. While reading poems like “Jabberwocky” I can not help but be reminded of the fantasy novel, “The Lord of the Rings”. Prose poetry uses many metaphors, distorted grammar and rhythm, and especially complex language to make and impression on the reader.
