[forgotten realms. :)]

I.

Murder found him quickly under the bricked-over sky of the Muzad, the light greasy and flickering from the rusted torch holders set high on the stone pilings, just a few strides away from a stairway deeper down into the dark. The stacked pilings threw deep shadow to his left, a blanket over the assassin, but even as Nathan straightened carefully against the dagger’s edge inserted between the chink of armor at his ribs, the stiletto point pricking only just far enough through the mail shirt he wore beneath to write its author’s point, there was a soft bark of laughter ( ... )

“Could have been,” The assassin inclined his head. “Don’t blame you for going, if that is what you mean. But what with the current problems Up There in Calimport, can’t blame a man for being wary when a Knight of the Holy Judgment shows up to the Muzad“I am here on business,” Nathan said patiently, “And I have no ill intentions at present towards En Sabah Nur, as much as his notoriety precedes him ( ... )

Yeesss! All right, I know next to nothing about the Forgotten Realms series, (I only had time to get into one intimidatingly long fantasy series that took up it's own bookshelf at the store while I was growing up.)but this is EXACTLY what I needed.

I am looking forward to more like you wouldn't believe. Oooh, awesome.

I am also looking forward to more.

[A/N: In recent books, En Sabah Nur has some benevolence. It will be explained in a bit.]

II.

An hour and a half passed in a crawl, with stone ceiling high over his head and a motley selection of humanity in a sluggish stream around him, adventurers in mail and leather and plate, common citizens in a cotton, kufis, djellabas, tunics, burgas, the cloying scents of grease, oils, human waste, stale air and heady spice in cloves and cinnamon. Occasionally, passers-by would look him over, tracing the thick lines of his storm-gray plate armor, the fitted greaves under his shoulder plates and the mark of Tyr emblazoned over his surcoat, the broadsword on his back, frown, and then catch sight of the claw necklace and turn away again.

Curious.

Nathan walked aimlessly, not knowing what he sought, only understanding that for some divine reason, Tyr had brought him here, to the Muzad. He considered, idly, the Temple of Old Night, but he rather doubted that Tyr intended to send just one Paladin against one of Shar’s strongholds. Besides, ( ... )

“Power senses power,” En Sabah Nur agreed, with a flick of his eyes over Nathan, showing clearly enough that the sorceror could sense his ability both as Paladin and a psionist. “No. Were I thought threatening, I would already be dead. Wade is merely one of several of my men who are helping me cement alliances, were that to occur.” A slight frown, furrowing the cloth. “The vision, Paladin ( ... )

“Really? You are so efficient. Another day or so and maybe you’ll even convert half of the Faiths Ward,” Wade’s tone was almost insultingly facetious. “Also, your horse is as bloody violent as ever. Nearly took my fingers off ( ... )

Aww, only one kiss Nate? Poor you.
And Nate's concern for Wade also makes me Aww.

I am really enjoying this. In fact I am gonna start playing neverwinter and stuff.

author says-

if you don't mind playing graphically outdated games, start with Baldur's Gate. :D BG1 and BG2 were probably the best of the Forgotten Realms series, imo.

NWN 2 (non-expansion) was better than 1, even if as usual the romance scripts were quite stunted, the story wasn't too bad. Game is terribly buggy though.

Still, the best FR experience is still the old fashioned way of playing it in a group of friends, in real life, with a decent DM/GM. :3 Once I played it with a group of girls, male DM. We spent an hour in the imaginary blacksmith and didn't buy anything. XD;;

I don't mind outdated games, so all is good. x3
M'kay then I shall play BG1, BG2, and nwn 2.

Sadly I lack friends who are interested in DnD.
I feel like I am missing out on something now. Dx

I fucking love you.

I'll be honest, the FR references throw me off, but I'm still adoring this. I love that you're working the comic references into the universe and Wade's gaming-based 4th wall breaking XD.

I've always wanted to play Neverwinter, but I've never had a decent gaming computer. The closest thing I play is Elder Scrolls. I once tried to learn old school D&D to impress a guy. (I think it's been proven scientifically somewhere that 70% of goth girls are inexplicably attracted to adorable geek guys.) Oooh, I failed so miserably...

I'm still looking forward to more! Did I mention I love the undertones of Wade angst/Nate's concern? ...because I do.

The FR books are pretty terrible. The games aren't bad though, (or at least, BG, BG2 and NWN 1 and 2).

if your computer can handle Elder Scrolls (or at least, the Oblivion one), it definitely can handle neverwinter. It's a low spec game, compared to some other RPGs (like Fallout XD), especially NWN1. Baldur's Gate is far superior in terms of plot and characters though (though yeah it's far older).

DnD is only really fun if you have a great DM and play with friends, in my experience. :(

Oh, lol, no. My computer doesn't handle Elder Scrolls; my 360 does. I own every next-gen gaming system known to man, but I somehow don't own a computer that'll run anything more advanced than minesweeper. Tch, all right, fine. It runs a pretty mean game of spider solitaire too.

Coincidently, given where I was working (before I moved ::sob:: I miss my job.) when Fallout came out; I have entirely too much (or not enough. close call) Pip Boy swag.

ahh I see. XD;; sadly... I have the trifecta of gaming computer, ps3 and xbox360... I'm terrible that way t_t; Save where really necessary (i.e. it doesn't come out on PC), I can't play RPGs without a PC or I get bored. :/

There's really nothing worth getting at the moment on a gaming computer though for an RPG until maybe Dragon Age, so you're not missing out.

playing tentacle!monster!prototype game atm -.-;
