Today I'm sitting at my desk. Its about 10:00 and I'm not very motivated. For some reason, I notice the date show up on my iPhone's little calendar icon and it FINALLY hits me. Remember last year how I was in Spain for my fantasy football draft? And how my team was so horrible that I only won two games the entire season?

Well, this year I was home for the draft!

And I am 2-0!

Equaling last year's win total was an important goal that I am happy to have achieved in September.

Today my cousin pointed out that on October 5th there is going to be a half-marathon literally running through his backyard. Intrigued by this, I looked it up and it turns out that the First Annual Brooksie Way is in Rochester that day. Way back in college, hungerf9 gave me a book. It was HUGE. It had huge footnotes. He swore that, although it took him years to get through it, it was worth it. It was called "Infinite Jest" and it was written by David Foster Wallace. And, he was right. It took me years to get through it, but it was a wonderful journey and well worth the time. Today was the big Detroit Zoo 5k run I had signed up. It was pouring out, but i went anyway. After all, it could rain on my half-marathon day. It was VERY well organized and actually started on time! I did the 5K in 30 minutes (awesome time for me!) and was still feeling pretty good. So I ran the 10k also! It started 45 minutes after the 5k ( Read more... )
