Shivani was my buddy. She's smart and inquisitive (but so are all the rest). I think I loved her because she's mischevious, to say the least. She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it! These pics really capture her personality--and notice the ring I gave her. She had to wind string around it so it fit.

Genevieve and I left for Varanasi just as the influx of furry black caterpillars was reaching outrageous heights. We had a last goodbye with the kids over at their house complete with chai, mehendi, and filmi (bollywood dance music). I finally got them to sit still enough for real portraits (and hugs) and tried not to feel sad about leaving.

Sambhavna is the name of the clinic in which I worked. The clinic was sort of a haven away from outer Bhopal, and always bustling with patients and children and doctors. These pics are actually from our first trip out of Bhopal (as you may have noticed, I'm not exactly doing this in order) to the incomplete Bhojeshwar temple in Bhojpur. The temple is dedicated to Shiva, and houses the largest Shiva lingam in India, which is 18 feet in circumference and crafted out of a single rock. Pretty impressive...
