Welcome back!

And go for that Mac - best thing you'll ever do!

EWW!!! DON"T DO IT!! tobes31415 March 24 2004, 08:39:09 UTC
Ewww... no don't do it!! MACs are evil.
If you have a router then it probably has built in protection.
Windows XP has a built in Firewall.
The Google toolbar block the ads and doubles as a search assistant
And as long as you don't browse porn sites or open email attachments from people you don't know you don't need any kind of expensive antivirus... Heck I don't have any antivirus program and I've been virus free for years...
File monitoring backups?? Backup software is bundled with Windows. Just make sure you have a second hard drive, or zip drive etc (something small and cheap) big enough only for your important files.

I'm not in love with Microsoft.... I just hate macs... they aren't compatible with 99.99999...% of any software or files that ppl access on a day to day basis.

my needs right now are suited for macs

-I use internet explorer
-messenger
-photoshop
-adobe premiere for video editing
-Office xp

-I need speed, a dvd writer and a portable lap top
-all of these programs and peripherals, I can use in a mac

and at this point my desktop is getting outdated so I wanna try something new...and not to mention more stable.

I mean Unix...is there anything more to say. But at this point I am still deciding. Thank you for the input!
