Now I am sick--probably got a cold virus on the plane--in addition to jetlag. But seeing my friends is a happy enough thing that jetlag and sickness aren't too bad, just a little pest on the side. The wind is attacking our house. Trying to break the shutters and sneak in. Plus, the French have this thing about fresh air, so almost all windows have these little vents in the top of the window frame. Christmas Eve we went to midnight mass. In an old church from the 13th or so century in a town nearby. It was so cold I could see my breathe as I sang. There were heat lamps hanging like chandeliers over our heads, but it in such a large church, only the top of my head ever warmed up.
