I used to do the same exact thing, except with whiskey and album no. 2 when I was feeling depressed. Being in the dark is so necessary. Have you seen them live?

Whiskey is always the winner. But wine gets you more stoned-ish than drunk and it really works with the record. Not to sound too hippie-fresh and what not.

I saw them live at the Siren Festival (2yrs ago?). They played on the stage of the coney island freak show. The atmosphere fit the band so well, it was perfect. Needless to say Pal rocked the saw and I was quite happy.

I've always wanted to go to the Siren festival, and yet I have missed it EVERY TIME. The mermaid parade, too. I'm always working or hungover or far away or whatnot.

I've seen BHP twice, one was at the Knitting Factory somewhere in the estimates of 4 years ago? and they blew me away. The drummer even played the sheet metal for atmosphere. The next time was when they opened for Blonde Redhead at Bowery Ballroom, which was cool but I prefer smaller concert spaces to big ones. Bowery Ballroom has a good sound system, though, so I loved it.

I love the Three Mile Pilot stuff, too.

First, you have to make it to the siren festival this year. It's ridiculous fun. Last year, I saw some guy in a sailor hat, dancing around with nothing but a toy octopus covering his junk. It's NYC at it's finest....and drunkest.

Smaller venues are definitely the way to go. Bowery is usually pretty cool, I bet that sounded sweet.

Three Mile Pilot just may be the best band ever. You should check out 'Songs From An Old Town We Once Knew'...it's a collection of their 7inches and b-sides. It has arguably the best song they have ever done, "The House Is Loss". It's worth getting, if you don't already have it.

This song refuses to download for me. Sounded like a good time.
:) Oh hi. This was random, I know.

The whole record is the way to go. It's the soundtrack for a tropical noir.
