My husband's joining the Army

It's true. If everything goes well, he will be joining the Army and be sent to Fort Huachuca for nearly a year of training. The nice thing is that if his training is for more than 6 months, the army will pay to move me to where he is. I'll be a 45 minute drive from Tucson ( Read more... )

Well, even if things aren't as peachy as they should be, it's good to hear from you. ^^

Sounds good to me. Was always my backup plan, the "Oh-shit-had-a-kid-need-support" plan.

IMO I would go Navy though. Seriously. You get paid more, you do less, and no chance of getting shot. Only downside is you spend 6months out of the year out at sea. The other 6 you spend in CA. Barring some retarded signing bonus, which happens a lot with the army, I'd reconsider.

PS: There is no "already signed up" until the day before you leave for basic.

It should be a good step for all of us. From what the recruiter told us, signing the contract after MEPS seals you in, unless there are extenuating circumstances. We were hoping to keep him as close to home as possible, and working with the sattelite systems should let him stick around. Even if he does get deployed, it will be at a base, not in combat.

Nah that's a lie, my recruiter told me the same shit. There's actually a hotline you can call, should you decide that you don't want to go. All you have to do is not go to phoenix for your final MEPS appointment. The first MEPS you go to doesn't mean anything really, they just make sure you're in decent condition to go, decide a date, and sign you up for the DEP program. You're under no obligation to go to anything past that point.

As far as the satellite systems go, only the IT guys have full access to them, otherwise you've limited resources. I do concede that Fort Huachuca is pretty close, but Davis Monthan is much closer. Not saying he shouldn't go, just that the air-force/Navy seem like a much better idea, to me anyway. The only reason I could see for joining the army would that you either A) Had a low ASVAB score, b) They're offering a really great bonus or C) you've got a lot of people who will say you recruited them, so that you get an instant E3 pay jump or something. Otherwise idk x.x

Yeah, i heard about the job, at Pepboys right? Brandon's mom is being a bitch about the phone. She's charging us for the phone, which makes sense but the way she's going about it i wouldn't be surprised if she over-charges us. As soon as we get money, Brandon and I are getting our own phone plan.

As for Jace, he actually has an LJ guppyxxx. Ashley has a myspace account the_spotted_one. As for Beth... no clue. My best guess would be to go to her house.
